The Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR), led by Regional Director Atty. Ace Falconi V. Millar, participated in the Pasig City Mega Job Fair, conducted in partnership with the Office of Senate President Sherwin “Win” T. Gatchalian, bringing the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) closer to aspiring Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other jobseekers.

The activity aimed to connect jobseekers with a wide range of employment opportunities by bringing together local private employers, licensed recruitment agencies offering overseas employment, and participating government agencies.

The PEOS was conducted by Mr. Clark B. Briz, Chief of the Migrant Workers Processing Division and Acting Officer-in-Charge of the Migrant Workers Protection Division. During the orientation, Mr. Briz emphasized the importance of PEOS in equipping aspiring OFWs with essential information before making decisions concerning overseas employment, particularly on proper recruitment procedures, workers’ rights and responsibilities, and protection against illegal recruitment and human trafficking.

DMW-NCR likewise urged jobseekers to remain informed, vigilant, and properly prepared when pursuing employment opportunities abroad. Aspiring OFWs were reminded to verify job offers and recruitment agencies and to rely only on legitimate and official channels before entering into any overseas employment arrangement.

Through initiatives such as PEOS, DMW-NCR remains steadfast in bringing migrant worker protection closer to aspiring OFWs by providing accessible, timely, and reliable information—because informed workers are empowered workers.

The Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR), led by Regional Director Atty. Falconi "Ace" Millar, served as a Resource Speaker during the Career and Job Fair 2026 of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center (UERM), attended by third- and fourth-year students and alumni preparing to enter the workforce.

DMW-NCR emphasized the importance of being informed, vigilant, and prepared before pursuing employment opportunities, particularly overseas. The discussion highlighted the Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) and the AIRTIP Campaign, equipping participants with essential information on legal recruitment processes, workers’ rights, and practical safeguards against illegal recruitment and trafficking in persons.

Through its continuing information and education initiatives, DMW-NCR strengthens its preventive approach by reaching future professionals before they enter the labor market, empowering them to recognize legitimate employment opportunities, identify warning signs, and make safe and informed career decisions.

DMW-NCR remains committed to bringing migrant worker protection closer to schools, communities, and aspiring overseas Filipino workers—because protection begins with the right information.

The Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) led by RD Atty. Ace Falconi Millar formally served today a Show Cause Order (SCO) on Eastern Overseas Employment Center, Inc., through its Operations Manager—Ms. Marlina dela Paz Reaño—at 2:53 PM.

The SCO directs the agency to explain and address 17 findings and violations identified following the DMW-NCR welfare visit and inspection of its accommodation facilities in Santa Ana, Manila. These include the designation of foreigner as company President, requiring OFW applicants to render uncompensated work, overcrowding; inadequate beds, toilets, food, water, ventilation, and medical supplies; absence of a designated caretaker; restricted or inadequate ingress and egress; alleged withholding of passports; and the use of the 7th and 8th floors as accommodation facilities despite their apparent lack of registration or authorization for such purpose.

The Show Cause Order was received by the agency’s Operations Manager.

After the SCO was duly served and its salient provisions were briefly explained to the agency representative, the DMW-NCR personnel left the premises.

The agency was directed to submit its verified written explanation and supporting documents on or before September 18, 2026, addressing each of the findings cited in the Order.

DMW-NCR CONDUCTS CAPACITY ENHANCEMENT FOR MISSIO AMARE

The Department of Migrant Workers–National Capital Region (DMW-NCR) led by RD Atty. Falconi “Ace” Millar is currently conducting a Capacity Enhancement Program for the officers and members of Missio Amare as part of the continuing partnership under the Memorandum of Agreement between DMW-NCR and the organization.

The activity aims to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and capacity on Anti-Illegal Recruitment (AIR), Trafficking in Persons (TIP), and the various programs and services of the DMW-NCR for the protection and welfare of Overseas Filipino Workers.

Through this partnership, DMW-NCR continues to empower its partner organizations to become effective allies in protecting, assisting, and serving our OFWs and their families.

In observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDAT) 2026, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) joined the CBCP Community PROTECT Consultative Forum and Formation as a resource speaker on “Protecting OFWs from Labor Trafficking through Safe and Ethical Labor Migration.”

Organized by the Diocese of Cubao Migrants Ministry at the Parish of Our Lady of Lourdes, N.S. Amoranto, Sta. Mesa Heights, Quezon City, the forum brought together parish ministries, barangay officials, and youth leaders to strengthen community-based efforts against human trafficking.
