𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗜𝗖𝗘: In line with the celebration of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Anniversary and in anticipation of their completion of the Program of Instruction (POI), the Coast Guard Radio Operations and Maintenance Specialization Course (CGROMSC) Class 28-2026 of the CGWCEIS Training Institute conducted a community service activity in Barangay San Ignacio, Butuan City, benefiting sixty (60) children.

The activity aimed to extend assistance to the children through a feeding program, fun games, and interactive engagements that provided nourishment, enjoyment, and opportunities for meaningful interaction. It also served as an avenue for the students to demonstrate compassion, social responsibility, and their commitment to public service beyond their technical training.

Under the leadership of Vice Admiral Arnaldo M. Lim PCG, Commander of the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC), the initiative reflected the Command’s commitment to community engagement and public service. It embodied the spirit of PCG iCARE, bringing the Coast Guard closer to the community through meaningful acts of kindness and promoting goodwill in celebration of the PCG Anniversary.
The Barangay Captain expressed sincere appreciation to CGROMSC Class 28-2026, the CGWCEIS Training Institute, and the Philippine Coast Guard for their generosity and service to the community.

As the students approach the completion of their training, this initiative underscores the importance of developing not only technical proficiency but also compassion, character, and a strong sense of public service. By providing meaningful assistance to the children and fostering positive engagement with the local community, the activity strengthened public trust and promoted a positive image of the Philippine Coast Guard as a compassionate, community-oriented, and service-driven organization dedicated to the welfare of the Filipino people.

IN FOCUS: Thirty-five (35) students of the Coast Guard Radio Operations and Maintenance Specialization Course (CGROMSC) Class 26-2026 participated in a Disability Sensitivity, Basic Sign Language, Visual Gestural Communication (VGC), and Proper Wheelchair Handling Orientation, aimed at strengthening their awareness, communication skills, and ability to provide respectful and inclusive service to persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The orientation was lectured by Ms. Wennah G. Marquez, Division Chief of the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Division (PDAD), City of Mandaluyong, and Mr. Dennis Rhoniel C. Balan, Filipino Sign Language Trainer of PDAD. It covered disability awareness, inclusion, respectful communication, and equal treatment of PWDs. The students were also introduced to basic Filipino Sign Language (FSL), Visual Gestural Communication (VGC), and appropriate practices in assisting individuals with mobility disabilities, including the proper and safe handling of wheelchairs.

Through informative discussions, demonstrations, and practical exercises, the students gained a deeper appreciation of communicating effectively through signs and visual gestures, responding appropriately to individual needs, and providing assistance without compromising the dignity, independence, and rights of persons with disabilities.

The orientation emphasized that being a Coastguardian goes beyond technical knowledge and operational competence. These skills are essential in public assistance, emergency response, and other Coast Guard operations where personnel may encounter individuals with diverse communication and mobility needs. By developing these competencies, Coast Guardians become better prepared to serve the public with empathy, professionalism, and inclusivity.

As part of the mandatory courses of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the activity reinforces the importance of equipping personnel with practical knowledge and skills to deliver accessible and people-centered public service.

Under the leadership of Vice Admiral Arnaldo M Lim PCG, Commander of the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC), the Command, through the CGWCEIS Training Institute, continues to develop well-rounded, socially responsible, and mission-ready Coast Guard personnel who are not only technically capable but also committed to serving every member of the community with competence, compassion, and respect.

LOOK: The forty-four (44) students of the Coast Guard Gunner’s Mate Specialization Course (CGGMSC) Class 06-2026conducted a Troops Information and Education (TI&E) on Gun Safety for thirty-four (34) newly aboard personnel of the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC).

The activity aimed to strengthen the participants’ knowledge and understanding of responsible fi***rm handling, established safety protocols, and proper procedures for the safe use of fi***rms. It emphasized the importance of discipline, vigilance, and accountability in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe working environment.

More importantly, the TI&E served as a practical instructional exercise in which the students took on the role of lecturers, delivering gun safety lessons to fellow Coast Guard personnel. This provided them with an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge, build confidence in public speaking and lecture delivery, and enhance their ability to communicate essential safety information effectively. As future Gunner’s Mates, they are expected not only to demonstrate proficiency in fi***rms but also to instruct and guide personnel in the proper and safe handling of weapons.

Through this hands-on experience, the students developed the confidence and instructional competence necessary to fulfill their future responsibilities as technical specialists and instructors in their field. At the same time, the newly aboard personnel gained valuable knowledge that reinforces compliance with established gun safety standards.

Through initiatives such as this, the CGWCEISC Training Institute continues to provide practical learning opportunities that prepare students to become competent, confident, and capable Gunner’s Mates who can effectively share their expertise and contribute to the safety and operational readiness of the Philippine Coast Guard.

Hindi niya kailangang higitan ang mga lalaki upang patunayan ang kanyang kakayahan. Ang mahalaga ay ang pantay na pagkakataong matuto, umunlad, at magtagumpay.

INFORMATION DRIVE: The Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC), through the CGWCEIS Training Institute, conducted an information drive entitled “Building Cybersecurity Awareness” for forty-five (45) faculty members of Andres Bonifacio Integrated School (ABIS), Mandaluyong City.

The initiative was conducted in line with the observance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month this October, while also highlighting the Philippine Coast Guard’s 125th Anniversary and the celebration of Teachers’ Day, recognizing the important role of educators in promoting responsible and safe digital practices among learners and the wider community.

The session featured an informative lecture delivered by Lieutenant (Attorney) Lea Faye C. Badal PCG, focusing on Republic Act No. 10173, or the Data Privacy Act of 2012, and Republic Act No. 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The discussion emphasized the importance of protecting personal information, practicing responsible digital behavior, and understanding the legal responsibilities that come with the use of information and communication technologies.

The Data Privacy Act, in particular, provides safeguards for personal information and upholds individuals’ rights to privacy—knowledge that is especially relevant in the education sector, where teachers regularly handle sensitive information involving learners, parents, and school personnel.

Through this initiative, the CGWCEIS Training Institute, under the leadership of Commodore Pamela Dela Cruz Dolina PCG, reinforced its commitment to bringing cybersecurity awareness closer to the community and equipping educators with practical knowledge to help protect sensitive information and foster a safer digital environment for both faculty and learners.

Under the helm of Vice Admiral Arnaldo M. Lim PCG, the CGWCEISC continues to support initiatives that share knowledge, strengthen community resilience, and promote the responsible and secure use of technology. More than an information drive, the activity underscores that cybersecurity is not only an IT concern—it is a shared responsibility.

BUTUAN CITY, AGUSAN DEL NORTE || Forty-one (41) students of the Coast Guard Radio Operations and Maintenance Specialization Course (CGROMSC) Class 28-2026 participated in a one-day Values Formation and Character Enhancement Session facilitated by the CGWCEISC Training Institute in partnership with the Coast Guard Ecumenical Service.

The activity formed part of the Training Institute’s continuing commitment to developing competent and values-driven Coast Guard personnel, recognizing that effective service requires not only technical knowledge and skills, but also strong character and dedication to public service.

Through lectures, reflection activities, and interactive sessions, the students revisited the core values of the Coast Guard Credo, emphasizing integrity, discipline, teamwork, accountability, compassion, and commitment to service.

The session also provided students an opportunity to reflect on their future roles as Coast Guard Radio Operators and Maintenance personnel, highlighting the importance of performing their duties with professionalism, responsibility, and a genuine sense of service.

Through initiatives such as this, the CGWCEISC Training Institute continues to train, capacitate, and equip students with the technical competencies, character, and values needed to become disciplined, dependable, and mission-ready Coast Guard personnel committed to serving the nation.

LOOK | The Coast Guard Gunners Mate Specialization Course “BAGSIK ARTILLEROS” Class 06-2026 kicked off its four-day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training at the Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC).

The training is now part of the Program of Instruction (POI) of all CGWCEISC specialization courses, in compliance with the directive to complement technical training with essential emergency response skills.

On Day 1, students trained on Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults and children, combining instruction with hands-on practice.

By integrating BLS into its specialization courses, the CGWCEIS Training Institute continues to develop well-rounded Coast Guard personnel with both technical expertise and practical emergency response skills.

LOOK || The Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information Systems Command (CGWCEISC), through the CGWCEIS Training Institute, conducted its weekly learning webinar on the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10175), as part of the Institute’s continuing efforts to strengthen the knowledge and professional development of Coast Guard personnel.

For the month of October, the Institute’s weekly webinar topics are aligned with the observance of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, highlighting the importance of cyber awareness, responsible digital practices, and the protection of information and communication systems.

The webinar was attended by 190 participants, composed of students from various Specialization and Unit Courses of the CGWCEIS Training Institute, as well as personnel from CGWCEISC units and Regional Centers (RCs).

Serving as guest lecturer, LT (Attorney) Lea Faye C. Badal PCG of Coast Guard Legal Service, discussed the key provisions and applications of RA 10175, emphasizing the importance of recognizing cyber-related offenses, using information and communication technologies responsibly, and understanding the legal responsibilities of personnel in the digital environment.

The activity provided participants with practical insights on cybercrime prevention and reinforced the importance of vigilance, accountability, and responsible digital behavior in safeguarding information and communication systems.

As part of its continuing weekly learning initiative, the CGWCEIS Training Institute remains committed to providing relevant and timely learning opportunities that strengthen competence, promote cyber awareness, and build a more responsible and resilient Coast Guard workforce ready to meet the evolving challenges of the digital age.
