The CALABARZON Sectoral Committee on Social Development and Social Protection (SCSD/SP) is taking a stronger stand on public health as key government agencies and partners unite to address pressing birth-related challenges in the region during its Second Quarter meeting on May 14, 2026 at the Manila Metropolitan Theater.

During the meeting, the Committee endorsed to the Regional Development Council the call of the Commission on Population and Development Region IV-A to curb adolescent pregnancies through the implementation of the Commission on Population’s Comprehensive Action Plan 2025–2028. “CALABARZON has consistently recorded the highest number of teenage pregnancies in the country from 2020 to 2025,” said Ms. Jasmine Rose Osias of CPD Region IV-A. The plan highlights strategies such as strengthening reproductive health education, improving access to adolescent health services, enhancing family and community support, and promoting a whole-of-government approach to prevent adolescent pregnancies.
