PAGADA TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH

As of 2:00 AM today, 04 June 2026, the Low Pressure Area (LPA 06a) is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a "MEDIUM" chance of development into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

PAGASA TROPICAL CYCLONE WATCH

As of 2:00 AM today, 02 June 2026, Severe Tropical Storm "JANGMI" (formerly "Domeng") has exited the monitoring domain of DOST-PAGASA.

Meanwhile, no other Low Pressure Areas (LPAs) are being monitored for Tropical Cyclone Formation.

All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.

11 plants are on forced outage since May 2026, 1 plant since March 2026, 3 plants since 2025, 2 plants since 2024, 2 plants since 2023, and 1 plant since 2021, while 15 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 952.4MW unavailable to the grid.

Factors that contributed to the Red Alert declaration:

1. Unavailability of Visayas' large coal plants TVI 1, TVI 2, PEDC 3, and KSPC 2.

2. High system demand forecast.

The Luzon and Mindanao grids are expected to operate under normal conditions.

A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.

To keep everyone informed and prepared, please be advised that if the grid status escalates to 𝐑𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐭, which means power demand is higher than the available supply, rotational brownouts may be implemented to help maintain overall grid stability.
