This page will focus more on JPIC. The SVD Central Province JPIC is expressed in 5 compassionate ways. Flavie Villanueva, SVD and Fr. Third, the Paghilom Program.
We expressed our being SVDness in 4 Characteristic Dimensions, namely: Bible Apostolate, Mission Animation, Communication and Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC). First, we have the Kalinga (Kain, Ligo – Ng -Ayos), a dignified, systematic and holistic way of feeding in Tayuman was closed because police and local authorities prevented them to do so for violating social distancing protoc
ols, a reason that is not true. So, as our response to COVID- 19, we decided to have the Kalinga sa Kalye, where we bring the dignified food packs to the beggars and homeless in different places while respecting social distancing protocols. It started from 250 food packs in March 2020 to 1000 food packs in March 2021. It is a unified response where volunteers, beneficiaries, others institution, and SVDs (like Fr. Ian Nercua, SVD) are acting as one. Second, we have the Bahay Kalinga, a home for the homeless who have decided to undertake the threefold programs (Alternative Learnings, Skills training and Livelihood and employment program). In addition, there were ten local stranded individuals (LSIs) for ‘Balik Probinsya’ and 9 elderly people for referral. A total of twelve have been re-integrated with their families and relatives thru our ‘Tulay sa Pamilya’. It is a program in response to the victims of Extrajudicial Killing in Metro Manila in healing their woundedness thru Psycho-spiritual intervention (PSI) and counselling, direct financial assistance and in livelihood programs. Fr. Flavie is accompanying the victims actively. Fourth, we have the Bamboo planting and Organic fruits and vegetables advocacy of Fr. Ben Beltran, SVD; and the SVD Farming in the Divine Word Seminary, Tagaytay City led by Fr. Sammy Agcaracar, SVD in response to climate change and Laudato Si, to take good care of Mother Earth. The Fifth one is the Kalingan sa Panahon ng Unos Center in Tayuman in response to any disasters. It is one of the concrete answers to our SVD PHC JPIC Summit theme: Acting as One, which was held last December 2020. I am trying to work hand in hand with different point persons both laity, Dioceses and SVDs to have a consolidated effort in responding to the needs of the victims of different typhoons and volcanic eruptions. We have decided to have satellite relief centers as SVD PHC in our parishes, colleges and schools. With these continues consolidated efforts, we are able to provide relief goods in eight provinces and helped 325 families who have received the Kalingaan Roof Aid for a standard corrugated roofing -12 ft, 10 ft and 8 ft gauge 23, 24 & 26, plywood, coco lumbers and nails to repair their houses - a total amount of 3.25 million pesos for roof aid only in the provinces of Albay, Oriental Mindoro, Cataduanes, Rizal, Camarines, Cagayan Valley, Batangas and Surigao del Sur.
