ππππ: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG)'s Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Maritime Safety Services (CG-8) under the leadership of CAPT JOMARK U ANGUE PCG, successfully concluded a three-day Troop Information and Education (TI&E) activity from April 28, 2025 to April 30, 2025, held at Villa Excellance Beach Resort, Tanza, Cavite. This initiative reflects CG-8βs unwavering commitment to advancing maritime safety services while also ensuring the well-being, inclusivity, and empowerment of its personnel.
Day 1: Annual Planning Performance Review and Organizational Assessment (APPROA)
The first day of the TI&E was dedicated to the conduct of the Annual Planning Performance Review and Organizational Assessment (APPROA). This comprehensive review enabled CG-8 officers, Non-Officers, and Non-Uniformed Personnel to critically evaluate the accomplishments and challenges encountered over the past year. Through collaborative discussions and strategic analysis, the participants identified key areas for improvement and set clear, measurable targets aligned with the vision and mission of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
This activity also served as a platform for strengthening unity within the office, promoting transparency in operations, and reaffirming CG-8βs commitment to the PCG's core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty. The assessment was guided by the principles of accountability, performance excellence, and the continuous enhancement of maritime safety services.
Days 2 and 3: Gender and Development (GAD) Activities
The second and third days of the TI&E focused on Gender and Development (GAD), reinforcing CG-8βs role in advocating gender sensitivity, equality, and legal literacy within the organization. A series of lectures, interactive sessions, and workshops were conducted to deepen understanding and compliance with key national laws and policies concerning gender and family rights, including:
The Solo Parent Act
The Magna Carta of Women
The Anti-Sexual Harassment Law (RA 7877)
The Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313)
The Anti-Rape Law (RA 8353)
The Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health Act (RA 10354)
These sessions were facilitated by subject matter experts and resource persons with extensive experience in gender rights advocacy and policy implementation. The discussions emphasized the importance of creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment that supports the holistic development of all PCG personnelβregardless of gender or personal circumstance.
Through these GAD initiatives, CG-8 reaffirmed its dedication to promoting awareness on gender-related issues, preventing workplace harassment and discrimination, and fostering a culture that recognizes the vital role of every member in nation-building and maritime governance.
