Tiong Se Academy Library is the repository of the school's books, periodicals, and other materials used for reading, study, reference, and leisure.
It is divided into three sections, the Chinese Books Section, English Books Section (Elementary, High School, Teachers Collection), and the Reading Area. The library also holds one of the special collections of the school that can be found in the Chinese books section. ering printing services. The library is open and ready to serve library clients every Monday through Friday at 8:30AM-5:30PM. RULES AND REGULATIONS
Library Hours
The library is available from 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM Mondays through Fridays with lunch break during 12:40 PM – 1:40 PM. However, library services will close at 4:30 PM every Friday to give way to PAHINA’s (Booklover’s Club) activities. Library Users
The library caters to all the members of the Tiong Se Academy community. This includes its students, faculty, administration, alumni and school personnel. Users must present a valid ID upon entering the premises. Dress Code
Library users are requested to follow proper dress code of the school upon entering the library. Improper clothing such as mini-skirts, walking shorts, plunging necklines, etc. are strictly not allowed inside the library. Likewise, wearing of slippers inside the premises is not allowed. Bags, Belongings, etc. Library users should leave their bags and other belongings outside the library. Only valuable things and research materials such as notebooks needed by the user will be allowed inside. The library will not be responsible for any loss nor damage to the users’ property. Library users are requested to observe the following:

1. Our library is a place for study. Hence, SILENCE must be observed at all times;
2. User must present a valid ID upon entering the library premises;
3. Eating, drinking or smoking is strictly not allowed;
4. Cellphones and other gadgets are not permitted inside the library premises unless it has a gadget pass;
5. Proper behavior must be practiced inside the library. Disrespectful language and/or gestures against the librarian especially when borrowing or returning materials will be given appropriate disciplinary action;
6. Stealing, vandalism/ destruction of library properties such as books, magazines, computers, chairs, and tables will be subjected to disciplinary action;
7. Library users should throw pieces of paper into the trash bin instead of scattering them on the table and on the floor;
8. Return the seats to its proper places silently before leaving;
9. Card or game playing is not permitted (with exemption to chess and other educational board games);
10. Users are requested to return the books to the shelf after using it.
11. HONESTY is expected of all library users. CIRCULATION (BORROWING) POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Circulation (borrowing) counter is found near the entrance of the library. Borrowing and returning of library materials are done here. Borrower's Form
School’s valid ID serves as an entrance pass to the library. Library user must have a record (borrower’s form) in the library to be able to borrow materials. Lending of ID card for purposes of any activity (i.e. borrowing of materials for others, etc.) is strictly prohibited. Faculty Members
A faculty member may authorize someone to borrow materials for him/her by presenting to the circulation the following:
- Letter duly signed by the faculty member with the representative’s name on it (with photocopy)
- Valid ID of the faculty and representative (with photocopy)
Category
1. Fiction books - 1 week (renewable once)
2. Non-fiction books - 3 days (renewable once)
3. Reference books - Library use only
4. Magazines - Library use only
5. Board games - Library use only
6. Teacher’s collection - Teacher’s use only
Renewal
Items borrowed may be renewed personally. However, it will not be allowed if it reaches the maximum renewal limit. Circulation books (fiction and non-fiction books) are renewable once. Meanwhile, reference books are not allowed to be brought out of the library. The following will not be allowed for renewal:
- Overdue books
- Books reserved by another user
- Books not due soon enough for renewal
Hold / Reserve
Library users may request for a hold or reserve for any materials that can be borrowed. Users may check at the circulation counter if his/her requested book is available already. Fines
No borrower will be allowed to borrow materials until he/she has settled all his/her fines. A fine of FIVE PESOS (P5.00) PER DAY will be charged for each overdue material. Lost and Damaged Materials
If a borrowed library material is lost, the library should be informed immediately. Overdue fines will continue until a notification to library is received. Library user (including faculty and staff) will be responsible for replacement of his/her lost borrowed material. Lost materials must be replaced with same title, edition and author. If the circumstance is not possible, a material on the same or related subject may serve as replacement provided that it is in latest edition and if most possible, is hardbound. If the user found the material after being reported lost and returns it, and if the book is in an acceptable condition, the user will be required to pay only the accumulated fines. If a borrower has damaged a material, he/she will not be allowed to borrow library materials for 2-3 weeks and might be charged a fine that amounts to the damaged material. COMPUTER USE
1. Use of computer is a first come first serve basis; reservation of computer is not permitted.
2. Use of computer/internet is strictly for research purposes only; use of computer/internet for entertainment purposes such as watching movies (i.e. pornographic videos are NOT allowed), playing games, etc. is prohibited.
3. Library user must surrender his/her ID to the librarian and should log in the computer use log sheet.
4. Only the faculty members and students from Grades 4-11 are allowed to use the computer units.
5. Changing the computer’s programs is not allowed. Doing so will lead to disciplinary action.
6. Handle the computer units with utmost care. Reading Area Rules and Regulations
1. The reading area is strictly for reading and research work purposes only; sleeping is not permitted.
2. Likewise, eating and/or drinking are not allowed.
3. Only the reading and research materials are allowed to be brought inside the area.
4. Only the grades 6 until 11 are allowed to enter and use the reading area.
5. Shoes are not allowed in the carpeted area.
6. SILENCE is strictly observed; as stated in rule #1, the area is for reading and research purposes.
