| The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Surigao conducted a major inspection operation at a container yard in Agusan del Norte on May 8, 2026, resulting in the discovery of 54 container vans loaded with assorted ci******es and raw to***co materials, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify efforts against smuggling and strengthen border protection measures nationwide.
The operation was carried out pursuant to a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno and was conducted in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP). The implementing team proceeded to the premises to verify the contents and documentation of the shipments.
Initial inspection findings showed that 52 container vans contained boxes of assorted cigarette brands, including Red and Menthol Modern, Red and Menthol Carnival, Nise Baisha, Commando, Gold H&P, Delta, GJB-FH, BR Centro, Centro, Bossku, and TS Ci******es. Meanwhile, two container vans were found to contain boxes of raw to***co materials, bringing the total number of inspected container vans to 54, with an estimated value of ₱3.3 billion

| BOC-SFLU Surpasses April 2026 Collection Target
The Bureau of Customs – Port of San Fernando (BOC-SFLU) exceeded its revenue collection target for April 2026, recording a total collection of Php 606.981 million, which is 8.11% higher than the emerging target of Php 561 million.
The Port attributes this performance to the implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with the directives of Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, as well as the unwavering dedication and hard work of its personnel under the leadership of District Collector Clarence Anthony D. Gammad.
This achievement reflects the continued commitment of BOC-SFLU to efficient revenue generation and effective customs administration.

| The Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of Subic, under the leadership of District Collector Dir. Arnaldo M. Saulong , welcomed representatives from COSCO Shipping Lines during a courtesy meeting held at the Port of Subic.
The delegation was headed by Mr. Wang Jinshan of the company’s Project Logistics Division. The meeting served as an avenue to strengthen collaboration and discuss opportunities to enhance logistics operations, streamline cargo movement, and improve trade facilitation within the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.
During the discussion, both parties exchanged insights on current shipping and logistics trends, operational concerns, and potential areas of cooperation aimed at boosting efficiency and supporting the country’s international trade activities. Emphasis was placed on fostering strong partnerships between the BOC and key industry stakeholders to ensure smooth and secure cargo handling.
District Collector Saulong reaffirmed the Port of Subic’s commitment to upholding transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business, in line with the Bureau’s 5-Point Priority Program, particularly on trade facilitation, modernization, and stakeholder engagement.
The BOC – Port of Subic continues to actively engage with industry partners to promote a more responsive and globally competitive customs environment.

| At the GOVX.0 Philippines Summit 2026 held on 06 May, organized by Tradepass Global, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) highlighted its continuing modernization and digital transformation initiatives aimed at building a more efficient, transparent, and technology-driven customs administration.
Deputy Commissioner Atty, Revsee A. Escobedo, MNSA of the Management Information Systems and Technology Group (MISTG), served as one of the resource speakers during the summit. In his presentation, he underscored that customs modernization is now a strategic imperative rather than an operational option, emphasizing its direct impact on national competitiveness, trade facilitation, and public trust.
He discussed the Bureau’s ongoing digitalization efforts, particularly the enhancement of the Customs Core Processing System and the continued deployment of key digital solutions such as the Automated Export Declaration System, Enhanced Certificate of Payment, e-Service Catalog, Online Tax Estimator, and the Origin Management System. These reforms are designed to reduce manual processes, minimize delays, and improve efficiency in customs operations while ensuring greater transparency in trade transactions.

| Customs Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno, commended the Bureau of Customs (BOC) - Port of Batangas under the leadership of its District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan, for its outstanding performance and sustained accomplishments in revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection. | The Bureau of Customs (BOC)–Port of Iloilo, through its Auction and Cargo Disposal Unit (ACDU), conducted the condemnation of seized and forfeited ci******es at the Iloilo City Sanitary Landfill in Brgy. Calajunan, Mandurriao, Iloilo City on May 7, 2026.
A total of 6,345 reams of assorted cigarette brands were destroyed through crushing and dumping. The disposal activity aimed to prevent the illegal goods from re-entering the market and to support the Bureau’s campaign against smuggling and unlawful trade.
Members of the ACDU and the Condemnation Committee supervised the disposal. Representatives from the ESS–Customs Police Division, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service, Commission on Audit, Environmental Management Bureau Region 6, Iloilo City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and Iloilo City General Services Office witnessed the activity to ensure transparency and proper condemnation procedures.
Under the guidance of Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno and the leadership of District Collector Noli P. Santua, Jr., the BOC–Port of Iloilo continues to uphold integrity, accountability, and modernization in Customs operations while strengthening border protection and facilitating legitimate trade.
