Marcos discussed the initiative during his meeting with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, currently the Supreme Adviser to the Parliamentary Association of the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC), on the sidelines of his state visit to Japan.”

“The Philippines remains ready to welcome new coal operators as the auction will push through this year once the Department of Energy (DOE) irons out remaining kinks, its chief said.
Sought for updates on the bidding, which would include a major coal site currently under Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (SMPC), DOE Secretary Sharon Garin said the government aimed to resume the auction by the middle of this year."
