SSS ON WHEELS

In a proactive move towards ensuring social security for all, under the initiative of JCINSP PATRICIA A VIDAMO, Jail Warden, and this unit’s Welfare and Development Section continuous coordination with the Social Security System (SSS) Xeland Branch, an "SSS on Wheels" was facilitated at the Marikina City Jail Female Dormitory headed by Ms. Rosario V. Dela Cruz, Acting CEO II together with 2 other SSS staff. This initiative aims to bring essential SSS services directly to both Persons Deprived of Liberty and personnel of Marikina CJFD.

The SSS on Wheels featured a comprehensive Information Drive conducted by SSS representatives. During this session, participants were educated about the various benefits and processes of becoming SSS members. This included detailed discussions on the importance of social security, retirement benefits, healthcare provisions, Maternity benefits and other entitlements available through the SSS.

Moreover, the event provided a platform for PDL and jail personnel to register using SSS online portal. This registration process was facilitated smoothly, allowing PDL to enroll and secure their membership while inside the jail facility . Additionally, all queries or concerns regarding existing SSS memberships, contributions, or benefits were promptly addressed by the knowledgeable SSS staff/representative.

In a heartwarming display of community engagement and educational support, under the guidance of the Marikina City Jail Female Dormitory Warden, personnel of this unit organized a "Read a Book" activity at the San Roque Elementary School. This continuing initiative aims to foster love for reading among young students and highlight the importance of literacy in personal and community development.

This activity, which took place on a bright and sunny wednesday morning, saw the enthusiastic participation of both the students and the Marikina CJ FD personnel. The school'scovered court was filled with the sounds of pages turning and stories coming alive, as the children dove into the magical world of books.
