WHY WE NEED THE FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTION:

It also included a prophecy about a night lit by an unknown light (the aurora borealis in 1938) signaling God's punishment through war, famine, and persecution.

The Valley Fault System (VFS), an active fault in the Greater Metro Manila Area (GMMA), consists of two segments: the East Valley Fault (EVS) and the West Valley Fault (WVF).

East Valley Fault

The EVF is about 10-km long and traverses the municipalities of Rodriguez and San Mateo in Rizal Province. This fault can generate an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.2 that may result to a very destructive ground shaking, with intensity VIII on the PHILVOCS Earthquake Intensity Scale (PEIS), in the epicentral area.

West Valley Fault

The WVF is approximately 100-km and transects portions of Quezon City, Marikina City, Pasig City, Makati City, Taguig City, Muntinlupa City, and the provinces of Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, and Cavite. This fault can generate an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.2 that may result to a very destructive ground shaking, with intensity VIII on the PEIS, in Metro Manila and nearby provinces.

The fault, which has moved 4 times in the last 1,400 years, moves roughly every 400 years, according to Phivolcs Director Dr. Renato U. Solidum, Jr.

In case of a magnitude 7.2 earthquake from the West Valley the fault, 31,000 to 33,500 people could die, according to estimates based on previous studies conducted by PHIVOLCS in partnership with the the Metro Manila Development Authority, Japan International Cooperation Agency, and Geosciences Australia.
