Gahitan ES Holds Health Awareness and Immunization Orientation for Parents

Gahitan Elementary School conducted a health awareness session for parents, focusing on El Niño preparedness, heat-related illnesses, first aid, school-based immunization, and deworming.

Ma’am Ma. Fatima Vida served as the host, welcoming the parents and introducing the speakers. Konsehal Maria Fe Valderama discussed how to prepare for extreme heat, the things to do and avoid, common heat-related illnesses, and basic first aid.

Meanwhile, Nurse Angelica Mae Gatdula explained the importance of school-based immunization for Grade 4 learners, including protection against cervical cancer and other illnesses preventable through vaccination. She also discussed the importance of deworming and its benefits to children's health.

The program was made possible through the preparations and assistance of Ms. Eleonor May Pendon, SDRRM Coordinator and Ms. Lorylen Ocampo, Clinic Teacher who helped ensure the smooth conduct of the activity.

The activity concluded with an open forum where the speakers answered the parents’ questions and encouraged them to allow their children to undergo deworming to help protect them from intestinal worms and maintain good health.

Through this activity, the school continues to promote health awareness and strengthen parents’ support for the well-being of every learner.

Beat the Heat: Gahitan ES SELG’s Campaign for an El Niño-Ready Campus

The Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG) of Gahitan Elementary School took an active role in promoting awareness and preparedness through its “El Niño: Be Prepared, Stay Safe!” campaign.

The SELG officers visited each classroom to share important information and practical reminders on what to do and what to avoid during El Niño. They encouraged learners to conserve water, stay hydrated, protect themselves from extreme heat, maintain personal health, and help care for plants and the environment.

Through this initiative, learners were reminded that simple actions can make a big difference in keeping themselves, their families, and their community safe during hot and dry conditions.

Together, let us save every drop, beat the heat, and protect our health because prepared learners means safer community.

Project BUSOG: Sharing Food, Spreading Happiness!

Gahitan Elementary School successfully conducted the October implementation of Project BUSOG, made possible through the generosity of Sir Mike Rouello of M and C Tour, Noceda Bakery, and Ms. Emy Mendoza.

The school’s faculty members and SPTA officers worked hand in hand in preparing and distributing nutritious meals to the learners. The activity was supervised by School Principal Ma’am Jackie Lou Pereña and visited by Mendez District Supervisor Dr. Susan Aquino.

With Sir John Rillo’s cooking skills and the collective efforts of our teachers - Ma'am Eleonor May Pendon, Sir John Paul Luna and SPTA members, the learners enjoyed delicious meals, along with boxes of Jacobina crackers and juice. Their happy faces showed how much they appreciated this simple yet meaningful act of kindness.
