DIVISION LAUNCH OF READING NOOK: READING TO RISE PROGRAM

Yesterday, June 3, 2026, the Schools Division Office of Muntinlupa successfully launched the Reading Nook: Reading to RISE Program hosted by Muntinlupa Elementary School through the Curriculum Implementation Division – Learning Resource Management Section (CID-LRMS).

The meaningful event gathered distinguished guests and stakeholders in education, including Mayor Ruffy B. Biazon, Regional Director Dr. Jocelyn DR. Andaya, Assistant Regional Director Rita Riddle, members of the Division Top Management Team, elementary school principals, teachers, parents, and learners, all united in promoting literacy and fostering a culture of reading among Muntinlupeños.

In his message, Mayor Ruffy B. Biazon reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the City Government of Muntinlupa in supporting programs that strengthen literacy and learning opportunities for every child. He emphasized that investing in education is investing in the future of the city, and that the local government remains a steadfast partner of DepEd in creating learner-friendly environments where children can develop essential skills, cultivate a love for reading, and achieve their fullest potential. The Mayor also expressed his appreciation to educators, parents, and community stakeholders whose collective efforts help shape a brighter future for Muntinlupeño learners.

In her inspirational message, Schools Division Superintendent Violeta M. Gonzales emphasized the significance of the program's theme, "Reading to RISE," as a powerful reminder that education elevates, transforms, and empowers every learner to soar above challenges.

She highlighted the essence of SIKLAB DUNOnG, stating:

"Our theme, 'Reading to RISE,' is a powerful reminder of what education is meant to do: it elevates us, transforms us, and allows us to soar above any challenge. But how do we truly rise? We rise when we ignite a fire within. And that brings me to the very heart of our mission today: SIKLAB DUNOn\G, the beautiful, unstoppable act of igniting the flame of wisdom and knowledge."

She further shared that every Reading Nook established across the division becomes the birthplace of a spark, a spark ignited by every page turned and every story discovered. Through these reading spaces, learners are inspired to develop a love for reading, fueling a flame of wisdom and knowledge that conquers illiteracy, builds confidence, and illuminates pathways to endless possibilities.

The launch marks another milestone in SDO Muntinlupa's unwavering commitment to nurturing lifelong readers and advancing quality education for all. Through the strong collaboration of DepEd, the local government, school leaders, teachers, parents, and community partners, we continue to ignite minds, inspire dreams, and empower every child to rise through the transformative power of reading.

Yesterday marked another transformative milestone in the journey of local education as school heads, and education program supervisors gathered at the B-Hotel in Filinvest Alabang for the Post-Implementation Assessment of the Revised K to 10 Curriculum. The atmosphere was charged with a shared sense of purpose as these leaders and educators stepped beyond their daily routines to become the architects of change, proving through deep-dive sessions on the Assessment Dashboard that their commitment to student success turns every obstacle into a stepping stone for growth. This gathering was further elevated by a powerful message from OIC-SDS Violeta M. Gonzales, who highlighted the participants' indispensable role as the primary drivers of curriculum implementation. She challenged the assembly to be steadfast partners and to unite under the vision of "Siklab DUNONG in 2028," a goal where Muntinlupa stands as a "Center of Excellence" and every graduate becomes a storyteller of their own destiny and a master of numbers built to create a better world.

As the afternoon sun set on Alabang, the collaborative efforts of the school heads and supervisors shifted the focus toward the future of the Filipino learner, emphasizing that the curriculum is a living promise of progress that requires total unity to fulfill. Guided by technical expertise and PPST-based strategies, the participants explored new ways to ignite the potential within every child and strengthen the heartbeat of the educational community. Closing the event, OIC-SDS Gonzales issued a stirring call for all educators to harmonize their efforts and move as one to achieve this shared vision. By synthesizing their collective wisdom through the QAME process, the division has not only refined its curriculum but has also solidified a partnership dedicated to securing a brighter, more empowered future for every Muntinlupeno learner.
