The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Davao de Oro, through the Grassroots Innovation for Inclusive Development (GRIND) Program, successfully conducted the SalikLakbay Solutions Mapping Training and Immersion on July 8, 2026, at Barangay Poblacion, Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
Combining Saliksik (to research) and Lakbay (to journey), this activity aimed to equip faculty members and Extension Services Division personnel from the Davao de Oro State College (DdOSC) Compostela and Maragusan Campuses with the essential knowledge, skills, and tools for effective community engagement, solutions mapping, and identifying Grassroots Innovations (GIs).
Serving as the Resource Speaker, Engr. Ian Dave P. Corteza, Head of the DdOSC Project Management Unit, delivered insightful lectures detailing the core concepts of solutions mapping, emphasizing the importance of recognizing indigenous community ingenuity, and offering practical guidelines for conducting respectful, impactful field observations and interviews to guide future S&T interventions. Putting these lessons into practice, participants undertook an afternoon field immersion, scouting local GIs at the Poblacion Public Market.
Through this collaboration, DOST Davao de Oro and DdOSC reaffirm their shared commitment to fostering inclusive, community-driven development across the province!
