In celebration of World Mental Health Day, Bicol Medical Center hosted a Symposium on Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace last October 9, 2026, at the Villa Caceres Hotel in Naga City. The event brought together nearly 200 selected employees representing various Services across the institution, all gathered under the overarching banner of "Healthy Minds, Supportive Workplaces, Stronger Communities." The symposium featured a full day of insightful lectures, interactive stress management workshops, panel discussions, and a collective commitment signing to prioritize employee well-being.
One of the highlights of the event was the lecture delivered by Mr. Jomari I. de Lima, RSW, Social Welfare Officer II. Speaking on “Creating Supportive Work Environments: Employee Support Systems, Psychosocial Interventions, and Community Resources,” Mr. de Lima emphasized the critical role of robust institutional support in cultivating a safe and sustainable work culture. He thoroughly outlined the legal frameworks backing mental health initiatives in government service, highlighted actionable psychosocial interventions, and detailed accessible community resources available to BMC personnel to foster individual resilience and collective wellness.
Today’s Mental Health Awareness Symposium reflects our unwavering belief that caring for our caregivers is essential to delivering compassionate healthcare. Through the strong, continuous partnership between the Medical Social Work Department and the Department of Psychiatry, Bicol Medical Center remains dedicated to building a culture where institutional support, psychosocial well-being, and community care intersect. Together, we pledge to prioritize mental health—not just today, but every single day! 🤝✨
