DA-PHilMech Advancing Philippine agriculture through research, development, extension, and commercialization of innovative postharvest and mechanization technologies.

The Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech) is an attached agency of the Department of Agriculture created through Executive Order 366 in 2004 and is mandated to generate, extend and commercialize appropriate and problem-oriented agriculture and fishery postharvest and mechanization technologies.. PHilMech was previously called the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE) and the National Postharvest Institute for Research and Extension (NAPHIRE).

Ever felt better after a cup of coffee? For some, it is a morning habit. For the members of the Casile-Guinting Upland Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CGUMC) in Cabuyao City, Laguna, however, coffee is a way of life. It is part of their livelihood, their community, and their shared effort to improve coffee production through technology.

From growing coffee in the uplands to processing and selling their own products, CGUMC has continued to develop its enterprise. Through the adoption of postharvest technologies and support from various agencies, the cooperative has improved its coffee processing, strengthened its enterprise, and built partnerships that create opportunities for its members and fellow coffee processors.
