The City Government of Olongapo thru Olongapo City Public Library proudly participated in the National Training-Workshop entitled : "Libraries as Stewards of Cultural Heritage: A Capacity Building and Community Engagement."

Held from May 25 to 26, 2026, this premier event was organized by the Association of Librarians in the Public Sector (ALPS), in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA-NCLIS), Baguio City Public Library, and the National Library of the Philippines.

We are incredibly proud of our very own Ms. Sheila Marie Fulton (OIC - City Library), who represented the Olongapo City Public Library on this national stage!

As an officer of ALPS, She served as a member of the event's working committee. She also took the spotlight as an invited storyteller, delivering a special storytelling presentation on the afternoon of May 25, 2026. 🎭📖

Through this program, we gained advanced knowledge in public librarianship, cultural heritage promotion, and community engagement, which we are excited to apply in service to our fellow Olongapeños.

The 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙜𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙣𝙡𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨𝙤𝙙 has passed 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙉𝙤. 56 (𝙎𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙛 2026), unanimously commending 𝙈𝙨. 𝙎𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙡𝙖 𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙚 𝙁𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙤𝙣, 𝙊𝙄𝘾 - 𝙊𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙥𝙤 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙋𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙘 𝙇𝙞𝙗𝙧𝙖𝙧𝙮, for bringing pride to our city after being named 3𝙧𝙙 𝙍𝙪𝙣𝙣𝙚𝙧-𝙐𝙥 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝: "𝙂𝙖𝙬𝙖𝙙 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙖 𝙉𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙉𝙖𝙣𝙪𝙣𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙠𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙣 𝙖𝙩 𝙏𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙜𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙠𝙤𝙙 𝙣𝙜 𝙋𝙖𝙢𝙥𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝘼𝙠𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙖𝙣 2022."

This national award is organized by the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 (𝗡𝗟𝗣) in partnership with 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. It honors public library personnel across the country who exhibit exceptional professional competence, leadership, and unwavering dedication to promoting literacy and community development. Maa'm Sheila Marie Fulton's award is a testament to her outstanding service and commitment to providing reader-centered programs for Olongapeños of all ages!

Our hard-working Barangay Secretariats are currently diving into an intensive session focused on online safety, data privacy, and responsible digital citizenship.

In today’s digital world, public service delivery relies heavily on the internet. Through this joint initiative, our local secretariats are equipping themselves with practical tools to fight online threats, secure sensitive data, and navigate the web safely while serving our communities.
