The DILG Olutanga together with the Local Government Unit actively participated in the 3rd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) conducted at 2:00 PM today, joining government offices and communities nationwide in strengthening earthquake preparedness and response.
At the Olutanga Municipal Hall, the activity brought together personnel from the Local Government Unit, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Philippine Coast Guard in the simultaneous conduct of the earthquake drill.
Participating personnel practiced the โDuck, Cover, and Holdโ protocol and carried out appropriate safety and emergency response measures as part of the simulated earthquake scenario. The participation of the LDRRMO, PNP, BFP, and PCG highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination and cooperation in ensuring a timely, organized, and effective response during emergencies and disasters.
The quarterly NSED, led by the Office of Civil Defense under the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council NDRRMC, aims to assess and strengthen the country's capacity to respond to earthquakes, particularly in ensuring public safety through well-organized evacuation and response procedures.
For DILG Olutanga and the Local Government Unit, the drill provides an opportunity to strengthen preparedness, familiarize personnel with emergency procedures, and reinforce coordination among local responders and partner agencies.
Through the continued collaboration of the LGU, DILG, LDRRMO, PNP, BFP, PCG, and other local stakeholders, Olutanga continues to build a community that is prepared, coordinated, and resilient in the face of disasters.
