This intensive program focused on upgrading essential technical skills in microbiological testing, sample preparation, and culture media evaluation. Triggered by a request for regional assistance to conduct laboratory testing, this strategic training directly enhances laboratory capacity and strengthens surveillance programs at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory IX (RADDL IX)โ€”ensuring accurate, science-based food safety standards for the absolute protection of our consumers and stakeholders.

On ๐— ๐—ฎ๐˜† ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ- ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿณ, ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ, the National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operations Center IX (NMIS RTOC-IX) conducted a 2-day ๐— ๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐—ฎ๐—ณ๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜† ๐—”๐—ฑ๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐˜† ๐—ฆ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ฟ at the WMSU-College of Agriculture Social Hall, Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

The activity was led by ๐—ข๐—œ๐—–-๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ป๐—ถ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐——๐—ถ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—ฐ๐˜๐—ผ๐—ฟ ๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—ฅ๐˜‚๐—ฑ๐—ถ๐—ผ ๐—š. ๐—”๐—ฏ๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ, together with four Meat Inspectors III who served as resource speakers:

The 2-day seminar aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge on: Meat inspection procedures, Food safety standards, Hygiene and sanitation practices, and Relevant regulatory requirements.

Participants were 3rd-year BS Agriculture โ€“ Major in Animal Science students from WMSU-College of Agriculture. The National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operation Center IX (NMIS RTOC-IX) successfully supervised the meat inspection operations during the 2-day ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐—ป ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฌ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿฒ activity held from May 27 to 28, 2026, at the ๐—ญ๐—ฎ๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฎ ๐—–๐—ถ๐˜๐˜† ๐—ฆ๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜‚๐—ด๐—ต๐˜๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ต๐—ผ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ, ensuring strict compliance with proper hygiene and sanitation standards throughout the process.

This annual charitable tradition by the ๐—™๐—ถ๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ผ ๐—ง๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ธ๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ต ๐—ง๐—ผ๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—ฆ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ผ๐—ผ๐—น (๐—™๐—ง๐—ง๐—ฆ) involved the slaughter of ๐Ÿต๐Ÿฑ ๐—ต๐—ฒ๐—ฎ๐—ฑ๐˜€ ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜๐—น๐—ฒ โ€”with standard slaughter fees generously waived by Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olasoโ€”and is expected to produce approximately 4,602 bags of meat (1.5 kg each) for distribution to identified indigent families across various local barangays.

The massive undertaking was made possible through a strong collaborative effort, featuring hands-on assistance from the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) personnel, alongside dedicated FTTS volunteers and students, who worked together to safely chop and pack the meat for the community.
