To continuously uphold our commitment to "𝒮𝒶𝒻𝑒 𝑀𝑒𝒶𝓉 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝒜𝓁𝓁", 𝗠𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶 𝗔. 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗮𝗻, the Laboratory Focal of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) Regional Technical Operation Center IX (RTOC IX), successfully completed a hands-on refresher training at the NMIS Central Meat Laboratory from 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟭𝟴-𝟮𝟮, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.
This intensive program focused on upgrading essential technical skills in microbiological testing, sample preparation, and culture media evaluation. Triggered by a request for regional assistance to conduct laboratory testing, this strategic training directly enhances laboratory capacity and strengthens surveillance programs at the Regional Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory IX (RADDL IX)—ensuring accurate, science-based food safety standards for the absolute protection of our consumers and stakeholders.

𝙈𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙛𝙚𝙩𝙮 𝘼𝙙𝙫𝙤𝙘𝙖𝙘𝙮 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝 𝘿𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙥𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙢 𝙖𝙩 𝙒𝙈𝙎𝙐-𝘾𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙜𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚

On 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟲- 𝟮𝟳, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, the National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operations Center IX (NMIS RTOC-IX) conducted a 2-day 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 at the WMSU-College of Agriculture Social Hall, Talisayan, Zamboanga City.

The activity was led by 𝗢𝗜𝗖-𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗚. 𝗔𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, together with four Meat Inspectors III who served as resource speakers:

• Mr. Anwar Mardi A. Parawan
• Mr. Mark Petter R. Codino
• Ms. Ivy Joy M. Bucoy

The 2-day seminar aimed to equip participants with foundational knowledge on: Meat inspection procedures, Food safety standards, Hygiene and sanitation practices, and Relevant regulatory requirements.

Participants were 3rd-year BS Agriculture – Major in Animal Science students from WMSU-College of Agriculture. The successful conduct of the activity was made possible through the collaborative efforts of 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗪𝗠𝗦𝗨-𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and the 𝗡𝗠𝗜𝗦 𝗥𝗧𝗢𝗖-𝗜𝗫 in support of youth development and meat safety awareness.

𝗤𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 “𝗘𝗶𝗱’𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗵𝗮” 𝗮𝘁 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟳-𝟮𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲

The National Meat Inspection Service Regional Technical Operation Center IX (NMIS RTOC-IX) successfully supervised the meat inspection operations during the 2-day 𝗤𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 activity held from May 27 to 28, 2026, at the 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲, ensuring strict compliance with proper hygiene and sanitation standards throughout the process.

This annual charitable tradition by the 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗸𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗧𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 (𝗙𝗧𝗧𝗦) involved the slaughter of 𝟵𝟱 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 —with standard slaughter fees generously waived by Zamboanga City Mayor Khymer Adan T. Olaso—and is expected to produce approximately 4,602 bags of meat (1.5 kg each) for distribution to identified indigent families across various local barangays.

The massive undertaking was made possible through a strong collaborative effort, featuring hands-on assistance from the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force (PNP-SAF) personnel, alongside dedicated FTTS volunteers and students, who worked together to safely chop and pack the meat for the community.

NMIS RTOC IX proudly participated in the Competency Strengthening Seminar for Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons held at the NMIS Central Office from May 19–22, 2026, represented by Mr. Stephen Bryle S. Gilbolingo.

The seminar aimed to enhance the knowledge, technical competencies, and professional capabilities of Engineering Infrastructure Focal Persons in support of the continuous improvement of engineering and infrastructure services within the agency.

Through active participation in capacity-building initiatives, NMIS RTOC IX remains committed to strengthening institutional capability and delivering quality public service through continuous learning and professional development.

NMIS RTOC IX participated in the Coordination Meeting with the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office IX (DA RFO IX) on May 25, 2026, regarding El Niño mitigation, preparedness, and action planning. The meeting focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination and discussing strategies to minimize the effects of El Niño on the agriculture and livestock sectors, ensuring preparedness and continuity of services in the region.

NMIS RTOC IX attended a coordination meeting with Pagadian City officials and Slaughterhouse Management Personnel on May 22, 2026. The meeting focused on the current situation and operations of the city slaughterhouse, including areas that need improvement and continued support from concerned offices.

Discussions centered on sanitation practices, compliance with meat inspection requirements, and ongoing efforts to improve facility operations. The meeting also helped strengthen coordination among the city government and partner offices to ensure smoother operations and better delivery of meat inspection services.
