Saturday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Mark 11:27โ33 โข Walking in Truth, Not in Fear
โโโโ-โข
โ A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark.
Jesus and his disciples returned once more to Jerusalem.
As he was walking in the temple area,
the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders
approached him and said to him,
โBy what authority are you doing these things?
Or who gave you this authority to do them?โ
Jesus said to them, โI shall ask you one question.
Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Was Johnโs baptism of heavenly or of human origin? Answer me.โ
They discussed this among themselves and said,
โIf we say, โOf heavenly origin,โ he will say,
โThen why did you not believe him?โ
But shall we say, โOf human originโ?โโ
they feared the crowd,
for they all thought John really was a prophet.
So they said to Jesus in reply, โWe do not know.โ
Then Jesus said to them,
โNeither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.โ
The Gospel of the Lord.

Today marks a sacred and memorable milestone in the lives of our First Communicants as they receive the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist for the very first time, during the Thanksgiving Mass in conclusion of Flores de Mayo 2026, officiated by the Rev Fr PMAJ REY A IBAรEZ, OIC, Regional Pastoral Officer, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Camp Sec Ruperto K Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte, on May 29, 2026.
After days of prayer, catechetical formation, and preparation, they now approach the altar to welcome Jesus Christ in the Eucharistโthe Bread of Life and the source and summit of our Christian faith. This precious encounter with the Lord is a gift of grace that strengthens their friendship with Him and nourishes their souls with His abiding presence.
As a community of faith, we rejoice with our First Communicants and their families on this blessed occasion. May their hearts always remain open to the love of Christ, and may the Holy Eucharist continue to guide, strengthen, and inspire them to live lives of faith, kindness, and holiness. Through the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may they grow ever closer to Jesus and faithfully walk in His ways throughout their lives.

Rev Fr PMAJ REY A IBAรEZ, OIC, Regional Pastoral Officer, officiated the Thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the successful conclusion of the Flores de Mayo and Summer Catechesis 2026 of Police Regional Office 8 (PRO-8), under the leadership of PBGEN JASON L CAPOY, Regional Director, held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Camp Sec Ruperto K Kangleon, Campetic, Palo, Leyte, on May 29, 2026.
Throughout these weeks of prayer, catechetical formation, and Marian devotion, our children have not only offered flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary but have also opened their hearts to a deeper knowledge and love of God. This celebration is a joyful reminder that the seeds of faith planted in young hearts today will continue to bear fruit in the years to come.
As we offer this Holy Mass, we thank the Lord for His countless blessingsโfor the support of our Regional Director, Command Group, Regional Staff, Regional Support Units, for the dedication of our catechists, volunteers, parents, and and for the enthusiasm and participation of our children. Through the maternal guidance of the Blessed Virgin Mary, may the lessons learned, friendships formed, and faith nurtured during this summer continue to inspire them to grow as faithful disciples of Christ and responsible members of the community. May this culmination not be an end, but the beginning of a lifelong journey of faith, hope, and love.
