🌏 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐬

The Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Regional Office VIII co-organized a two-day inception workshop and capacity-building program on CLIMADA and Community Disaster Risk Financing and Insurance (CDRFI) on 28–29 April 2026 in Tacloban City.

Led by the United Nations University – Institute for Environment and Human Security, in collaboration with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and DEPDev VIII, the activity supports ongoing efforts to integrate climate risk and disaster risk financing into regional planning.

💡 Participants explored CLIMADA, an open-source tool that helps estimate the impacts of hazards on assets and populations using exposure and vulnerability data. The workshop also highlighted CDRFI as a mechanism to strengthening financial resilience.

Through this engagement, the DEPDev VIII reaffirms its evidence-based planning and resilient development in Eastern Visayas.
