LOOK: The Department of Education Region VIII, in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment, officially launched the Government Internship Program (GIP) โ€“ ARAL Program, engaging GIP interns as ARAL Tutors in support of literacy and numeracy development among learners in Eastern Visayas.

The launching of this meaningful initiative highlights the strong collaboration between DepEd Region VIII and DOLE in addressing one of the most pressing concerns in basic education โ€” improving the foundational literacy and numeracy skills of learners.

Through the ARAL Program, GIP interns will serve as learning support tutors who will help strengthen the academic performance and learning recovery of learners, particularly those needing additional assistance in reading and numeracy.

DepEd Region VIII sincerely expresses its gratitude to DOLE for its unwavering support and commitment to education through this partnership initiative. This program is a testament that when government agencies unite with a shared purpose, greater opportunities are created for learners and communities alike.

Together, let us continue working hand in hand in building a brighter future where every learner is empowered through quality, inclusive, and accessible education.

The activity highlighted the shared commitment of DepEd and its education partners in promoting quality, equitable, and inclusive education for learners, especially those in geographically isolated and disadvantaged communities.

In her message, DepEd Region VIII Assistant Regional Director Marilyn B. Siao emphasized the importance of the project in transforming learners' lives in Southern Leyte.

โ€œI am truly humbled that I would be able to witness how this inspiring project of UNICEF and PLDT Smart will change the lives of our learners in Southern Leyte. This will surely bring hope to the entire youth of Southern Leyte Division, especially the disadvantaged learners.โ€

She further underscored that the initiative goes beyond the immediate recipients and serves as a reminder to everyone in Eastern Visayas about the transformative power of education in uplifting lives and communities.

ARD Siao also assured the continued commitment of DepEd Region VIII in sustaining strong partnerships and ensuring the successful implementation of the project for the benefit of every learner.

Indeed, this meaningful initiative reflects that through collaboration, compassion, and shared responsibility, brighter opportunities can be created for the learners of Eastern Visayas.
