DILG Palompon conducted its continuous compliance monitoring implementation of Halinaโt Magtanim ng Prutas at Gulay (HAPAG) under DILG MC No. 2023-001, todayโs featured barangays:

HAPAG is one of the three components of the Kalinga at Inisyatiba para sa Malinis na Bayan (KALINISAN) Program a strategy to diversify food sources and contribute to securing food security through Barangay Community Garden. The onsite compliance monitoring aimed to validate the implementation and commend the efforts of the barangay towards sustainable agriculture. Encouraging them to advocate promoting backyard vegetable gardens in every household to strengthen more the project.
Appreciation to Punong Barangay Nona Lynn P. Cabello, Francisco B. Osmena, Emma R. Villotes and Mario Ronnie O. Toron and their respective Sangguniang Barangay Members Committee Chair on Agriculture for implementing HAPAG sa Barangay Project, setting an example as model for each household to replicate and establish as well.

To strengthen more the barangay local governance collaboration, DILG Palompon actively joins the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) Regular Monthly Meeting held on June 3, 2026, at 2nd Floor, Liga Building, Palompon Town Hall, Palompon, Leyte.
Among the matters discussed were the distribution of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Barangay Drug Clearing Resolutions, updates on the submission of Executive Orders creating the Barangay Inventory Team (BIT) in preparation for the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2026, and the upcoming Training-Workshop on the Barangay Development Plan (BDP) 2027โ2030. Other relevant barangay concerns and administrative matters were also tackled during the meeting.
MLGOO Ivy Bonita Segundina A. Tangpuz and LGOO II Argie D. Alcober provided technical assistance and guidance to the barangay officials, ensuring that all directives, requirements, and upcoming activities were properly communicated and understood.
The activity further strengthened coordination and collaboration between the DILG and the barangays in the effective implementation of local governance programs and initiatives.

As part of the implementation of the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), a Training Workshop on the Formulation of the Enhanced Barangay Development Plan (E-BDP) was successfully conducted on May 29, 2026, at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Mabini, Palompon, Leyte.
The activity, which serves as a major output under the immersion phase of the RCSP, aimed to strengthen the capacity of local stakeholders in participatory development planning and in identifying priority programs, projects, and activities responsive to the needs of the community.
The Barangay Development Council (BDC) of Barangay Mabini, headed by Punong Barangay Mario Ronnie O. Toron, actively participated in the workshop and engaged in the planning workshops and discussions. Their participation reflected the barangayโs commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable community development.
The training workshop was facilitated by DILG Palompon personnel, MLGOO Ivy Bonita Segundina A. Tangpuz, and LGOO II Argie D. Alcober who provided technical guidance throughout the activity and Admin. Aide Marife L. Escoton for secretariat support.
Through this initiative, Barangay Mabini continues to strengthen its development planning process and advance its vision for a more responsive, resilient, and progressive community.

The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Palompon Chapter Meeting through DILG Palompon, Leyte was successfully conducted on May 30, 2026, at the 2nd Floor, Liga Building, Palompon Town Hall, Palompon, Leyte, with the participation of SK officials from the municipality.
The meeting served as a venue to discuss important updates and compliance requirements concerning youth governance and administration. Among the key agenda discussed were (1) DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2026-021 or the Inventory and Turnover of Barangay and SK Properties, Financial Records and Documents (BSK PFRDs), and Money Accountabilities; (2) National Youth Commission (NYC) SK Advisory No. 2026-P004 on the Issuance of Certificate of Good Standing for SK Officials; and (3) the compliance and submission of reports for the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) SK indicators, among other matters.
The activity was facilitated by MLGOO Ivy Bonita Segundina A. Tangpuz and LGOO II Argie D. Alcober, who provided guidance and clarifications on the discussed policies and requirements.
The meeting strengthened coordination among SK officials and reinforced their commitment to effective, transparent, and accountable youth governance in the Municipality of Palompon.

The Local Project Monitoring Committee (LPMC) of the Local Government Unit of Palompon actively participated in the Second Session on Strengthening the Functionality of Local Project Monitoring Committees (LPMCs) in Region VIII conducted by the DILG Region VIII Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU) on May 28, 2026, via Zoom.
The online activity aimed to enhance the capacity of LPMCs in effectively carrying out their monitoring and evaluation functions. A key component of the session was the detailed orientation on the utilization of the LPMC Functionality Assessment Monitoring System, which serves as an important tool in assessing and improving the performance of local monitoring committees.
Through its active participation, the LGU Palompon reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening project monitoring mechanisms, promoting transparency and accountability, and ensuring the successful implementation of local government programs and projects.

In partnership with the Office of the Executive Secretary and the Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) ng Pilipinas, the DILG, through the National Barangay Operations Office (NBOO), successfully conducted the Nationwide Online Webinar on the Presidential Assistance to Barangays under the Socio-Civic Project Funds (SCPF) โ Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Project via Zoom and Facebook Live on May 26, 2026.
The activity was attended by Barangay and SK Officials led by their Punong Barangays, and DILG personnel from across the country. The webinar served as a platform to orient and update stakeholders on the rollout and implementation of the project.
During the session, comprehensive guidance was provided on the project's operational procedures, documentary requirements, monitoring and reporting mechanisms, as well as liquidation guidelines to ensure the proper and efficient utilization of funds. The discussions also emphasized the roles and responsibilities of concerned stakeholders in the successful implementation of the program.
The webinar reinforced the commitment of the DILG and Local Government Unit of Palompon for effective project implementation, ensuring that every barangay benefit from programs and initiatives aimed at improving community development and public service delivery.

The DILG Leyte Provincial Office successfully conducted its Provincial Team Conference for the Month of May 2026, bringing together personnel to discuss key updates, organizational concerns, and priority programs via zoom platform today, May 26, 2026.
The activity commenced with an inspiring message from Provincial Director Johannes Y. Dorado, who expressed his appreciation to the Provincial Team for the commendable performance and dedication. He commended the team for the prompt response and timely submission of reports, highlighting the importance of efficiency and accountability in public service.
The conference also featured a reorientation on the Process Flow of Foreign Travel Authority Application and discussions on various administrative concerns to further enhance operational effectiveness.
Program updates were likewise presented, including developments on the DILG Leyte Provincial Office Website, the results of the Peace and Order Council (POC) and Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Assessments, the implementation of the KALINISAN Program, the reactivation of the El Niรฑo Task Force and formulation of the El Niรฑo Action Plan, and the results of the CFLGA Assessment.
Right after the Team Conference, a Cluster Meeting was conducted to discuss cluster-specific concerns, provide updates, and align strategies for the effective implementation of programs and activities at the field level.
The conference and subsequent cluster meeting provided valuable opportunities to share updates, assess performance, and discuss plans and strategies, strengthening the Provincial Officeโs commitment to effective, coordinated, and responsive public service.

Barangay Community Fire Auxiliary Groups (CFAGs) of Palompon, Leyte actively participated the Episode 3: CFAG of 2026 Pagrig-on han mga Harigi (Year 3): Strengthening of Barangay-Base Institutions (BBIs) a webinar series initiated by DILG RO8 via zoom platform and facebook live on May 25, 2026.
The online session covered key topics including the Community Fire Protection Plan, highlighting the importance of strategic planning and community involvement in ensuring fire-safe barangays. Participants were also oriented on the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) Functionality Indicators for Community Fire Auxiliary Groups, providing guidance on the standards and requirements for effective CFAG operations.
An Open Forum followed, allowing participants to raise concerns, seek clarifications, and exchange insights on community fire safety initiatives. The training concluded with Testimonies and Sharing of Best Practices, where participants shared successful experiences and practical approaches in strengthening their respective Community Fire Auxiliary Groups.
