The 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧 expresses its deep concern regarding the alleged 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 involving 𝟏𝟕𝟕 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟎 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐬 from the 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐒. 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐚 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐅𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐌𝐒𝐄𝐔𝐅), 𝐋𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐐𝐮𝐞𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, who visited 𝐊𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 as part of their educational tour.

The group, composed of 𝐁𝐒 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐒 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐲, was managed by 𝐈𝐌 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, a tour agency based in 𝐓𝐚𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲. The group’s food service provider was 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐳 𝐆𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥, a private business based in Palompon, Leyte.

According to reports, the 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐲𝐦𝐩𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 appeared at around 𝟏𝟎:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌 on the same day, after the group had departed from the island. As of this statement, 𝟏𝟏𝟐 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟕𝟕 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 are currently confined at 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐛𝐚𝐲 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 and are receiving appropriate medical care.

Upon learning of the incident, the 𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐧, in virtue of 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨. 𝟔𝟏, immediately 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 and 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 through the 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐇𝐎), 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐁𝐏𝐋𝐎), 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 & 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 (𝐌𝐂𝐀𝐓), 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐜𝐨-𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞 (𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐎).

A 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 to 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 and to 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. The LGU assures the public that it is 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 to 𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐨𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠.

🇵🇭 Let's show our Philippine Flag the respect it deserves! 🇵🇭

Did you know there are specific guidelines on how to properly display, use, and even dispose of our national flag, as mandated by Republic Act No. 8491 (Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines)?

Let's all be mindful of these rules to honor our country's most important symbol:

❌ Improper Display:

Always keep the flag in proper position, never touching the ground or reversed (unless in a state of war).

Damaged flags should be replaced and properly disposed of by burning in a solemn ceremony.

❌ Mutilation & Alteration:

Memes, protest props, or acts that insult the flag are PROHIBITED.

No logos, writings, or changes should be made to its design.

❌ Improper Use:

Avoid printing on napkins, cushions, packaging, ads, or products for sale.

It should not be used as clothing, costumes, curtains, or ceiling decor.

Disposal:

When a flag is no longer fit for display, it must be formally retired by burning in a solemn and dignified ceremony, preferably led by a government office, school, or authorized civic organization.

Throwing away, tearing, or discarding a worn-out flag in an disrespectful manner is PROHIBITED.

Let's educate ourselves and others! A fine of P5,000 to P20,000 and/or imprisonment of up to 1 year awaits those who violate RA 8491.
