NATIONAL FLAG DAYS 2026

The Philippine Air Force joins the whole nation in observance of the National Flag Days as it renders the highest honors to the Philippine Flag - the ultimate symbol of our sovereignty, unity, freedom, and democracy. Your Air Force stands firm in its commitment to duty, service, and unwavering loyalty to the Filipino people and the nation.

The National Flag Days in the Philippines began in 1965 through Proclamation No. 374, which declared May 28 as National Flag Day to commemorate the first unfurling of the Philippine flag after the Battle of Alapan in Cavite on 28 May 1898. Through Executive Order No. 179 in 1994, it was expanded to cover the period from May 28 to June 12, ending with the Philippine Independence Day celebrations. In 1998, the observance was formally institutionalized through Republic Act No. 8491 or the Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines, which established the annual National Flag Days celebration.

Through the preservation of artifacts, stories, and milestones of our airmen, the PAF Museum and the Office of the Chief Historical and Cultural Activities serve as a vital link between past and present, inspiring future generations to carry forward a shared identity and responsibility in building a united and progressive Air Force and nation.

Ang Office of the Chief Historical and Cultural Activities ay nakikiisa sa pagdiriwang ng ika-84 na Araw ng Kagitingan na may temang “Giting ng Bayani, Pamana sa Salinlahi”. Patuloy nating pinahahalagahan ang kanilang iniwang halimbawa, isang inspirasyon upang ang bawat Pilipino ay maging matatag, makabayan, at handang maglingkod sa bayan. Ang kanilang giting ay hindi lamang bahagi ng ating kasaysayan, kundi isang buhay na pamana sa susunod na henerasyon.

Amidst the Call of Duty, the Philippine Air Force pauses to join the nation in observing Holy Week 2026. Within the quiet walls of the chapel, airmen and women find a moment of spiritual renewal, grounding their commitment to the country in a deep devotion to God.

This sacred time serves as a powerful reminder of the ultimate sacrifice, inspiring our personnel to continue their mission with renewed hope and steadfast resilience. Even in the busiest of times, faith remains the wing that carries us forward.

The men and women of the Office of the Chief Historical and Cultural Activities extends heartfelt greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters on the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr. As we mark the culmination of the Holy month of Ramadan, may this special occasion bring peace, renewed strength, and abundant blessings to you and your families.
