What happened today was a clear abandonment of responsibility, a dereliction of duty, and a blatant disregard of the rules that govern this institution, because the Senate cannot be made to stop working simply because its presiding officer refuses to lead.

Under Rule XIV, Sec. 41 of the Rules of the Senate, the Senate President may postpone the holding of the session AFTER consultation with the Majority Leader AND the Minority Leader. That rule was violated. This is not merely a procedural lapse—it is a direct violation of the Rules of the Senate and a serious disrespect for the institution and the Filipino people.

Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano SHOULD RESIGN as he has shown that he cannot function as the leader of the Senate anymore.

SINCERE APOLOGIES TO INDAY BADIDAY’S FAMILY

Sa buong pamilya of the late Inday Badiday, I am sincerely sorry for mentioning her name during my manifestation sa Senado.

Slip of the tongue po iyon in the middle of a heated debate, and I take full responsibility because I should have been more careful with my words.

I want to say this from the heart: I respect Inday Badiday, and like many from my generation, lumaki rin po ako na nakikita siya sa TV, bahagi siya ng pop culture natin and she was loved by so many Filipinos.

Lovable talaga siya, with her own charm, wit and warmth, and I fully recognize her contribution to Philippine television, entertainment journalism and media.

My frustration was about the video shown on the Senate floor, and I never meant to disrespect her memory or reduce her legacy to politics.

Tama si I.c. Mendoza, dapat hindi na nadamay ang lola niya sa usaping pulitika. Kaya muli, I apologize deeply to the family and I will be more mindful moving forward.

BAGONG PALENGKE PARA SA SAN ENRIQUE

Congratulations po sa mga kababayan natin sa San Enrique, Iloilo, kung saan natapos na po ang ating bagong public market!

Pinagsikapan po natin ito para mapondohan at matapos na para magamit ng mga manininda ng San Enrique. And with 96 stalls, sigurado po ako na maraming kabuhayan ang masusuportahan ng bagong palengkeng ito!

It is always an honor to return to San Enrique, a town that has consistently made me its number one senator in the past elections. That kind of trust is something we will never forget, and we will always be grateful for the warmth and support of the people of San Enrique.

REVIEW CITIZENSHIP LAW

Sa sesyon ngayon, nagmungkahi po tayo ng reporma sa ating Citizenship Retention and Reacquisition Act, para mapadali ang citizenship application ng mga indibidwal na ipinanganak sa ibang bansa, ngunit may magulang na Pilipino.

Isusulong ko po ito dahil naniniwala ako na ang pagiging Pilipino ay hindi lamang kuwestiyon ng lugar ng kapanganakan. Ang ating pagka-Pilipino ay mula sa ating mga magulang, na siya ring nagpapalaki sa atin bilang mabuti, marangal, at makabayan na mga Pilipino.

IMPEACHMENT COURT: KATOTOHANAN AT KONSENSIYA ANG AKING GABAY

Alinsunod sa ating Konstitusyon, nag-convene na po ngayong araw ang inyong Senado bilang isang Impeachment Court, para sa Articles of Impeachment laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.

Katotohanan at konsensiya po ang ating magiging gabay bilang isang Senator-Judge sa trial na ito. That is my promise.
