Even before the pandemic, Philippine arts have found themselves in somewhat arid conditions, with the climb for recognition being fraught with challenges. Filipino choirs and their conductors know this only too well. But through persistence, perseverance, and sheer tenacity, by taking action, and thinking out of the box, choirs from the Philippines have sparkled and illumined the global stage with their talent, elan, enthusiasm, and musical artistry.
Does your choir have its own special story of resilience and triumph over adversity? Why not capture it in a short documentary with the help of young and creative filmmakers around you? Join the MBC Short Film Festival and get a chance to tell your story to the world at large as the centerpiece of DZRH's anniversary this year. Fr. Tim Ofrasio, S.J. -- liturgist and lyricist behind famous liturgical songs e.g. Alay sa Diyos, Paghahandog ng Sarili, and Panalangin sa Pagiging Bukas-Palad.
This is to inform you that FR. TIMOTEO J.M. OFRASIO, SJ died about 8pm this evening, December 1, 2020, in San Pablo General Community Hospital, San Pablo City. Fr. Tim, 72, had been on home leave and tested positive for the virus. He was hospitalized several days ago but seemed to be recovering. His death is quite unexpected, except that Covid-19 has often been seen to be more treacherous and deadly than anticipated. Fr. Tim entered the Society in 1969 and was ordained to the presbyterate in 1979.
Given continued virus restraints, Fr. Tim’s remains will likely be cremated and the ashes remain with his family for now. When feasible, they can eventually be brought to Loyola House of Studies for proper obsequies. Requiescat in pace.
