VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR: A Place of Well-preserved History
If history amazes you and you're an enthusiast of knowing our country's heritage, this is the best destination for you.
The full name of the province is Villa Fernandina translated as "Town of Ferdinand," named after the deceased first-born child of King Philipp II of Spain, Prince Ferdinand.
All around the Philippines, it is famous for its name, Vigan, while the business-oriented migrants of the province pronounced it as "Bee Gan" which means Beautiful Shore.
Within the cobblestone streets, Spanish houses and horse-drawn carriages, also known as Calesa, you will clearly see the best-preserved planned Spanish colonial town.
Its architectural structure hids a magnificent history that by just walking through it will make you feel that you're travelling back to time.
The trip wouldn't be complete without visiting the captivating Calle Crisologo.
You may want to wait until the dark and when the street illuminates, the beauty of the place will further unveil and you wouldn't help but say, "Nagpintas!"

SUMMER IS COMING
Just like how the The Game of Thrones teased us with their slogan, "Winter is Coming," I also want to tease you with a more appropriate and more realistic to our country: Summer is Coming.
Since it's only few months away before it comes, have you already planned about the destinations you will visit this year?
In preparing and choosing for our summer destination, we consider different factors.
It's not only the beauty of the place but we also consider our budget and a more unusual experience, because to remind you, summer only happens once a year and we want a wholesome experience that is deserved to be told and not just only a swim in a swimming pool.
Through this blog series, let me help you decide for your next destination so you can make your more memorable.

I nearly gave up in this long journey.
I was excited when I first stepped on this bus and knew the people I am going to travel with.
I was enthusiastic about the new things I will see and the new people I will meet. Not until my buttocks sore because of sitting for so long and still doesn't have an idea if I'm getting near my destination or if I did ride the right bus.
As we go along, the people on the bus are getting fewer. They are stepping out one at a time, and I cant help but to envy seeing them finally reached their destination while I am still here, sitting on the seat near the window and distracting myself with the view to keep me from my thoughts of waiting.
I am getting bored of the routine and Im starting to lose patience.
But I noticed this one person that seem to not get tired and still seem excited even though he's been travelling longer than us.
It caught my attention how he's still astonished of the views that already seem naive to me, how he pan his face left and right and doesn't let anything slip out his sight.
Out of curiosity, I asked him, "How do you still manage to be enthusiastic in this very long trip?"
He answered with a smile, "There will be a lot of storms along the trip, there will be humps and rocky roads, you will be familiarized with the identical roads and blinding lights, but most importantly, you have to enjoy every single moment. If you only focused about your destination and let your mind know that you're waiting, everything will seem very slow. But if you just savour every moment, leaving the thought of waiting at the back of your head, the next thing you know, you have reached your destination."
I realized he's right. I've been taking this trip very wrong.
It's not just the destination that we should look forward to but also the journey that leads us to it.
We may not know where and when our final destination would be, either we ended up in the right or the wrong place, or no matter where this trip will take us, don't forget to enjoy the journey.
