We thank everyone who participated in the conference's parallel session on population, development, and environment, and the poster session for their active engagement with Pasig POPDEV's research outputs.

We hope to have contributed well to the cause of advancing the field of Demography and Population Studies, as well as our shared mission of raising the quality of life of the Filipino people.

The 2026 Philippine Population Association International Conference was held last March 5-6, 2026 at Xavier University - Ateneo de Cagayan in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines.

Pasig City Population and Development Office joined development partners in a consultative meeting on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Bill

On March 2, 2026, the House of Representatives Committee on Youth and Sports Development presided over the consultative meeting and gathered the Philippine Legislators' Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD), Commission on Population and Development (CPD), Council for the Welfare of Children, Save the Children, and youth advocate groups, at the House of Representatives to review key provisions and align positions moving forward. At least 17 versions of the measure have been drafted as lawmakers continue to refine the proposal amid concerns from some legislators who oppose particular elements of the bill.

Stakeholders undertake sustained dialogue to harmonize provisions and build broader support for the bill as the committee prepares for the official hearing scheduled on March 17 with the authors attending the deliberation.

𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯: 𝘙𝘦𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 | 𝘌𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘔𝘪𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴 — We will present preliminary data showing the changing positions and roles of independently-administered cities within the country's internal migration dynamics and what such changes may mean for urban development and governance.

I attended the 1st quarter meeting of NCR Regional Population Officers/ Coordinators of the Commission on Populatio and Development as representative of Pasig Ciity. Learned a lot about improving our own PopDev Office at the same time shared what we are doing.

What an auspicious day as we celebrate Commission on Population and Development’s 57th Founding Anniversary alongside their lifelong partners in service!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the PopDev pillars who laid the foundations and shaped University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI), the Forum for Family Planning and Development Inc., and the PopDev Pasig Office.

Three interrelated events were held last week in recognition of the demographic changes and their profound implications for Philippine development, particularly for human development programs and policies:

1. National Consultation on Population Aging organized by UNESCAP and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD);

2. Signing of MOU b/w Pasig City & UP Population Institute for the latter’s technical assistance to the newly-established Pasig City Population & Development Office; and

3. Convenors’ meeting for the proposed 4th National Conference on Population & Development (formerly National Conference on Family Planning & Development); Convenors are CPD, DepDev (NEDA), DOH, UPPI, and The Forum.

With these, we can expect very active discussions on the country’s national & local situation that advance all sectors’ welfare & quality of life.

2026 is POPDEV Year! 𝘚𝘢 𝘗𝘖𝘗𝘋𝘌𝘝, 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘪𝘸𝘢𝘯!

𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗴 𝗟𝗚𝗨 x 𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗜 🤝

The Pasig City Government and the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) have formalized their partnership through the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) earlier at the People's Hall of the Office of the City Mayor!

UPPI will be lending its research and technical expertise to help capacitate the POPDEV Office and "leverage demographic data towards data-driven and people-centered governance."

The ceremonial signing was led by Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, UP Diliman Chancellor Edgardo Carlo Vistan II, Former Councilor Corazon M. Raymundo, and UPPI Director and Professor Elma P. Laguna.

𝘚𝘢 𝘗𝘖𝘗𝘋𝘌𝘝, 𝘭𝘢𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘬𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘪𝘸𝘢𝘯!

𝗪𝗲'𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗴 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆! 🙌

The Pasig City POPDEV Office participated in an orientation on building a Data Warehouse and Analytics System that will help the City Government integrate comprehensive, reliable, and up-to-date data in every aspect of its operations and service to Pasigueños!

There is much work to be done in the coming months, but we are excited to see where this data journey will take us!

Earlier, the Pasig POPDEV Office presented the initial analysis of the 2025 Katipunan ng Kabataan (KK) Profiling results to the Pasig City Youth Development Office. This is crucial for policymakers to understand who their youth constituents are and how best to meet their diverse needs.

We are eager to help unlock the full potential of the KK Profiling in contributing to the larger project of good, data-driven governance in Pasig City and beyond!
