In celebration of Araling Panlipunan (AP) Month, the Secondary Department of Peñarrubia Integrated School conducted a series of engaging and meaningful activities designed to promote historical awareness, cultural appreciation, creativity, and civic consciousness among learners. Through the Digital Infographics Contest, Slogan Making, Poster Making, and Quiz Bee, students were given opportunities to showcase their talents, express their ideas, and demonstrate their knowledge of Philippine history, culture, geography, and society.

These activities went beyond academic competition, encouraging learners to think critically, communicate effectively, and appreciate the significance of understanding our nation’s past and present. In celebration of Indigenous Peoples (IP) Month, the Key Stage 2 (KS2) learners of Peñarrubia Integrated School participated in Laro ng Lahi, an exciting activity that highlights the richness of Filipino culture and the importance of preserving traditional games. Through Kadang-Kadang, Shatong, and Tug of War, learners experienced the joy of traditional Filipino play while appreciating the cultural heritage passed down through generations.

The activity provided an opportunity for learners to develop teamwork, coordination, balance, sportsmanship, and camaraderie. As they enthusiastically took part in each game, they discovered that traditional Filipino games are more than just sources of fun and entertainment—they also serve as meaningful connections to our history, traditions, and shared identity as Filipinos.

Celebrating Indigenous Identity Through Lablabaan and Pallook

In celebration of Indigenous Peoples Month 2026, selected Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners of Peñarrubia Integrated School proudly participated in the Lablabaan and Pallook Indigenous Dances, showcasing the beauty, richness, and uniqueness of their cultural heritage. Through every movement and rhythm, they brought to life the traditions and stories passed down from one generation to another.

The presentation served as a meaningful expression of cultural identity, unity, and pride, highlighting the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous dances as an integral part of our cultural legacy. More than a performance, it was a celebration of the values, customs, and ancestral wisdom that continue to shape the identity of Indigenous Peoples in our community.

With the guidance and support of the Secondary IP Coordinator, Ma’am Mary Grace Tiongson, the learners demonstrated that culture remains alive when it is practiced, shared, and passed on to the younger generation.
