PNP PEACE DRIVE IN MIMAROPA REACHES 48 CTG SURRENDERS, MORE FI****MS TURNED OVER

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., continues to advance the government’s campaign for lasting peace as 48 Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members have returned to the fold of the law in the MIMAROPA Region from January 1 to July 2, 2026, while more fi****ms have been voluntarily turned over through sustained peace and reintegration efforts, reflecting the growing momentum of the government’s whole-of-nation approach to ending local communist armed conflict.

The latest development took place on July 2, 2026, when a CTG member voluntarily surrendered at the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company in Oriental Mindoro and turned over one .38 caliber revolver. As part of the government’s peace and reintegration program, the individual also received financial and grocery assistance to support a fresh start and encourage a peaceful and productive life in the community.

Earlier, on June 29, 2026, two CTG members voluntarily surrendered in separate activities in Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro. One, a former Vice Squad Leader of the Sandatahang Yunit Propaganda (SYP) under Platoon Guerrilla (PLAGUER), SRMA 4D, surrendered through the collaborative efforts of the 404th B Maneuver Company, Regional Mobile Force Battalion MIMAROPA, the Oriental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, and the Regional Intelligence Unit 4B. In a separate activity in Occidental Mindoro, another CTG member abandoned the armed movement and turned over one homemade 12-gauge sh***un through the joint efforts of the Provincial Intelligence Team of Occidental Mindoro, the Magsaysay Municipal Police Station, the Occidental Mindoro Police Provincial Office, the Regional Intelligence Division, and the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Based on custodial debriefing, the individual joined the underground movement in 2019 and served under KLG-MAV, SRMA 4D before opting for peaceful reintegration.

The latest surrender raised to 48 the total number of CTG members who have voluntarily surrendered in the MIMAROPA Region, including one personality listed under the Periodic Status Report (PSR). This milestone reflects the sustained gains of the government’s peace-building initiatives and the growing confidence of CTG members in the opportunities provided through reintegration programs made possible by the combined efforts of the PNP, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, local government units, and community stakeholders.

These gains reflect the PNP’s commitment to its PNP Focused Agenda, a strategic framework for organizational transformation designed to make police service more responsive, accountable, and community-centered. Among its key priorities, Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support continue to reinforce intelligence-driven initiatives, strengthen partnerships with communities and partner agencies, and encourage those involved in armed conflict to abandon violence, embrace peaceful reintegration, and contribute to nation-building.

“Every individual who chooses peace over armed struggle strengthens the safety of our communities and reinforces our collective pursuit of lasting peace. The PNP will continue working with partner agencies and local stakeholders to expand opportunities for reintegration and help more individuals become productive members of society,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Mas matibay ang kapayapaan kapag mas marami ang pinipiling magbagong-buhay kaysa humawak ng armas. Patuloy naming susuportahan ang mga programang nagbibigay ng panibagong pagkakataon sa mga nais mamuhay nang mapayapa,” dagdag ni PGEN Nartatez.

As the PNP strengthens its partnership with communities and other government agencies to advance lasting peace and expand opportunities for the peaceful reintegration of CTG members, under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it remains committed to “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

PNP FOILS ₱22.2-M ILLICIT CIGARETTE SMUGGLING ATTEMPT IN ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY

The Philippine National Police (PNP) intercepted an estimated ₱22.29 million worth of illicit ci******es during a maritime law enforcement operation in the municipal waters of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay, early Friday, resulting in the arrest of four suspects.

The operation, led by the Maritime Group's Regional Maritime Unit 9 in coordination with local police and partner law enforcement agencies, was launched after authorities received information regarding the alleged transport of contraband by sea. The operating team intercepted a motorized pump boat carrying hundreds of master cases of suspected illicit ci******es.

The four suspects, all adult Filipino males, failed to present documents showing the lawful transport and possession of the cargo. They were informed of their constitutional rights before being taken into police custody.

Recovered during the operation were 375 master cases of assorted illicit ci******es with an estimated value of ₱21.49 million, along with the motorized boat used to transport the cargo, bringing the total estimated value of the seized items to ₱22.29 million.

Appropriate charges are being prepared for alleged violations of the Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act and other applicable laws, while authorities continue the necessary validation and case build-up.

The successful operation supports the PNP's Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, by strengthening efforts against smuggling and other illegal activities that undermine legitimate industries and deprive the government of much-needed revenues. It also complements the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to intensify law enforcement actions that protect the country's economy and secure the nation's borders.

PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating teams for their swift and coordinated response.

"Hindi lamang kontrabando ang hinahadlangan natin dito. Pinoprotektahan din natin ang ating ekonomiya, ang kabuhayan ng mga lehitimong negosyante, at ang tiwala ng publiko sa batas. I commend our personnel and partner agencies for remaining alert and committed to their duty. Tuloy-tuloy lang ang ating operasyon laban sa mga gawaing lumalabag sa batas, ngunit palagi nating sisiguraduhin na ang bawat aksyon ng pulisya ay naaayon sa batas at may paggalang sa karapatan ng bawat isa."

The PNP reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations against economic crimes and smuggling as it continues to uphold Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman, in support of safer communities and a stronger, more secure nation.

PNP UNCOVERS CTG WAR CACHE HIDDEN IN CAGAYAN MOUNTAIN HIDEOUT

The Philippine National Police (PNP), under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., uncovered a concealed cache of fi****ms, explosives, am******on, and other war materiel believed to have been hidden by the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) in a former hideout in Sitio Llaga, Barangay Mabuno, Gattaran, Cagayan on July 2, 2026. The recovery denied the threat group access to weapons that could have been used to support future violent and terrorist activities.

The successful intelligence-driven operation was carried out by the Police Regional Office 2 (PRO2) through the 2nd Cagayan Provincial Mobile Force Company, with support from the Gattaran Municipal Police Station, Cagayan Provincial Explosives and Canine Unit, Police Intelligence Team Cagayan North, Regional Intelligence Unit 2, and the 17th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.

The operation was launched after authorities verified information provided by a former rebel returnee regarding the presence of a hidden arms cache in the mountainous portion of Barangay Mabuno.

Validation confirmed that the secluded area had previously served as a mobility corridor, transit route, and temporary concealment site of the CTG because of its rugged terrain, dense vegetation, and limited accessibility. Authorities believe the hidden war materiel had been stored for possible future retrieval by remaining CTG members to support armed operations and other unlawful activities.

Recovered during the operation were two M76 High Explosive r***e gr***des with canisters, one M76B High Explosive r***e gr***de with canister, two 40mm High Explosive Dual Purpose rounds, two 40mm High Explosive rounds, seven 12-gauge sh***un shells, 20 rounds of 7.62mm linked am******on, 134 rounds of 5.56mm am******on, two non-electric blasting caps, six rounds of caliber .38 am******on, nine fired caliber .38 shell casings, two caliber .38 revolvers, one improvised sh***un with magazine, two M16 magazines, one extended caliber .45 magazine, and one 12-volt wet cell battery.

The recovered items, wrapped in black plastic cellophane sheets and placed inside sacks, were immediately subjected to inventory, marking, and photographic documentation before being turned over to the appropriate custodial units for proper handling and disposition.

The accomplishment highlights the PNP’s continuing campaign to locate and recover hidden weapons before they can be exploited by threat groups. It also reflects the PNP Focused Agenda, a strategic framework for organizational transformation that advances intelligence-driven policing through enhanced managing police operations to strengthen public safety and internal security.

“Every recovered weapon and explosive denies threat groups the means to carry out violence and undermine peace. We will continue to strengthen intelligence-driven operations to protect our communities and safeguard national security,” said PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.

“Hindi natin hahayaang magamit muli ang mga nakatagong armas at eksplosibo sa paghahasik ng takot at karahasan. Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating mga operasyon,” he added.

As the PNP strengthens intelligence-driven operations to locate hidden war materiel, prevent the resurgence of threat groups, and reinforce internal security under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it remains committed to delivering “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.
