CASIGURAN, Philippines – Young journalists from Pilar 1 Central School showcased their exceptional talent at the recently concluded Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held in Casiguran, with five students qualifying for the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC).
The outstanding performance of these young journalists highlights the school's commitment to excellence in journalism.

The success of these students would not have been possible without the guidance and support of their dedicated coaches: Janice V. Lumbao (Photojournalism), Rolly Elli (Editorial Cartooning), Roxanne E. Flestado (Scitech), and Georgia Aliza Perete (Feature Writing). Special recognition is also due to school paper advisers Mary Joy L. Perfecto and Joyce L. Ardales.
The school also extends its gratitude to the incredibly supportive school head, Ma’am Mary Ann M. Ascaño, whose leadership and encouragement have been instrumental in fostering a thriving environment for young journalists.

Pilar, Sorsogon — December 1, 2025 — 𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗜 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 with a program that highlighted the creativity and talents of its pupils.
The day began with a parade around town, where pupils wore creative character costumes inspired by stories and literature, bringing stories to life and spreading joy in the community.
Following the parade, a culminating program was conducted, each grade level showcased their talents through a mass demonstration. During the program, winners of the contests held throughout November were recognized and awarded.
These activities were made possible through the leadership and guidance of Ma’am Mary Ann Ascaño (Principal), Ma’am Georgia Aliza L. Perete (Reading Coordinator) and Ma’am Leslie C. Celerio (GAD Coordinator), invaluable support of teachers, parents, and community.

𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗜 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 represented its municipality in the 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, held at Casiguran Central School, Casiguran, Sorsogon on December 1-2, 2025. The event brought together talented learners from 14 municipalities, showcasing excellence in English literacy, communication, and performance.

The event showcased the talents of young learners across the municipality, with Pilar I Central School producing winners who now qualify for the Division level.

𝗦𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗴𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 — The Pilar Football Girls (under 12) emerged as champion after defeating the grassroots team of Sorsogon United Football Club in the Sulay sa Futuro Sports League Grand Tournament, an invitational competition featuring teams from across the region.
The final match took place at the Sorsogon Sports Complex in Balogo, Sorsogon City, where Pilar’s young athletes showcased skill, teamwork, and determination to secure the title.
Guided by their coach, Sir Lordgie Eman R. Osila, the team delivered a strong performance that highlighted their growing strength in football.
The winning team was composed of:

The spirit of Christmas shone brightly at Pilar I Central School as the community gathered for the creation and lighting of the school’s Christmas tree, a project spearheaded by by 𝗠𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗔𝗻𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝗰𝗮ñ𝗼 (Principal II) with the collaboration of 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹, 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗹𝘀, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀.
The Christmas tree was made from recycled materials, symbolizing creativity, sustainability, and unity.
Ma'am Ascaño expressed her appreciation for the collective effort, noting that the project reflects the school’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also values that uplift the spirit.
As the lights twinkled against the night sky, the Christmas tree reminds that even in simple acts of collaboration, the true essence of Christmas—𝗳𝗮𝗶𝘁𝗵, 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲—can shine for all to see.

P1CS celebrates the achievement of its young mathletes, 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘇𝗲𝗳 𝗔. 𝗠𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗶 and 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗢. 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗮𝗹, who secured 𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 in the Division Math Quiz during the 2025 Division Math Fair held at Gubat South Central School, Gubat, Sorsogon on November 12, 2025
Guided by their coach, Sir Aliandre Estrera, the duo showcased their skills in the competition that brought together the brightest minds from across the division.
The Division Math Fair was conducted pursuant to Regional Memorandum 1239, s. 2025, showcasing learners and teachers' mathematical prowess.

Pilar I Central School joyfully held its School-Based Teachers’ Day Celebration, honoring the dedication and passion of its educators.

With the leadership and support of our School Principal Ma’am Mary Ann M. Ascaño, together with SELG Adviser Ma’am Ruth M. Balbido, the SELG Officers, Pre-Service Teachers from SL and DCOMC, SPTA Officers, the Barangay Council, parents, and pupils, the event became a heartfelt tribute to teachers’ invaluable role in shaping lives.

HAPPENING NOW | Pilar I Central School is conducting its Brigada Eskwela Plus with the active involvement of parents, the cooperation of the Barangay Council, the support of the School Parent-Teacher Association (SPTA) Officers, and the leadership of School Principal Ma’am Mary Ann M. Ascaño together with School Brigada Eskwela Coordinator Ma’am Marjury G. Lao.

The activity highlights the spirit of bayanihan as stakeholders join hands in maintaining and improving the school’s facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and child-friendly learning environment for the pupils.

As part of the school’s continuing commitment to strengthen community partnership, Brigada Eskwela Plus will be conducted every last Monday of the month, sustaining efforts beyond the regular Brigada Eskwela week.

Pilar I Central School commenced the week with the conduct of its Monday Flag Ceremony, spearheaded by the School Principal, Ma’am Mary Ann M. Ascaño.

One of the highlights of the ceremony was the awarding of winners in the recently concluded SiyenSpark Science Month Activity, where pupils who demonstrated excellence in various science-related competitions were recognized.

In addition, the school head delivered several announcements regarding forthcoming programs and activities, ensuring that both learners and teachers are well-informed of the scheduled undertakings.

The ceremony reaffirmed the school’s commitment to discipline, recognition of achievement, and collective readiness for the week’s academic and co-curricular engagements.

Pilar I Central School conducts its 2025 Intramurals with the hands-on and supportive leadership of our School Principal, Ma’am Mary Ann M. Ascaño, together with the school sports coordinator, Sir Lordgie Eman R. Osila. Coaches and athletes joined the activity as pupils took part in different sports events.

The Intramurals showcased the talents of the athletes while promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. It also serves as their preparation for the upcoming District Meet 2025.

With the strong support of the school administration, coaches, and the whole school community, the event became a meaningful way to build both skills and character among the learners.
