STABLE SUPPLY AND FAIR PRICES OF CONSUMER GOODS OBSERVED IN WESTERN VISAYAS
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) signals continued stability in the supply and prices of basic necessities and prime commodities in Western Visayas as of 13 April 2026, based on its monitoring of 78 firms across the region.
DTI monitors basic necessities, which comprise bottled water, bread, candles, canned sardines, coffee, locally manufactured instant noodles, laundry/detergent soap, processed milk, and salt, as well as prime commodities, which cover flour, corned beef, luncheon meat, meat loaf, beef loaf, soy sauce, vinegar, patis, toilet soap, and batteries.
Continuous availability of these essential items is noted, supported by established and regularly operating distribution systems and frequent delivery schedules ranging from daily, weekly, biweekly, to twice-monthly cycles, ensuring steady access for consumers in local markets.
Prices of these products generally remains within their Suggested Retail Prices, reflecting reasonable pricing, with monitoring likewise showing no indications of hoarding and other illegal acts of price manipulation in the region.
While some firms reported increases in logistics and distribution costs mainly attributable to higher fuel prices, these adjustments have not significantly affected retail prices.
DTI Region VI continues to intensify coordination with suppliers and stakeholders in the supply chain to sustain price stability, ensure adequate supply, and uphold fair trade practices, supporting both consumer welfare and market resilience.

The Department of Energy (DOE) continues to actively monitor fuel prices and supply conditions nationwide amid developments in the Middle East affecting global oil supply.
Even during the holidays, the DOE has mobilized its deputized agenciesโincluding local government units (LGUs), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Electrification Administration (NEA), and the National Power Corporation (NPC)โto strengthen on-the-ground monitoring of fuel retail stations.

At the same time, the DOE continues to support the legitimate fuel requirements of essential sectors such as healthcare, transport, agriculture, telecommunications, and government services, ensuring that monitoring measures do not disrupt critical operations.

This allows economic activity to continue and services to remain available to the public.
Importantly, it upholds fairness: fuel is distributed properly, supply is protected, and no sector or community is left without access during critical periods.
