Today, Pototan honors the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of Teresa Magbanua, the Visayan Joan of Arc, on the 21st Teresa Magbanua Day and her 158th Birth Anniversary. 🇵🇭

Born in Pototan, Iloilo, she traded the classroom for the battlefield and led her people in the fight for freedom. Her bravery continues to inspire every generation of Pototanons to stand for what is right, serve with heart, and love our country.

Let us remember her not only through celebration, but through the way we live out her courage and love for our community.

MUNICIPAL TEACHER’S DAY 2026
“Teachers, Like Denims, Built to Last Through Generations.”

Denim is known for its strength. It gets softer with time, carries the marks of everything it has been through, and only gets better the longer it is worn. Our teachers are the same. Through changing classrooms, new challenges, and countless school years, they remain firm in their purpose and committed to guiding learners.

Their lessons do not end in the classroom. They live on in the doctors, engineers, public servants, farmers, and leaders of every generation they have taught. The Municipality of Pototan recognizes this lasting contribution as it observes Municipal Teacher’s Day today, October 9, 2026 at 2:00 PM.

On September 3, 2026, we gathered to commemorate the 23rd Manuel "Quedo" Parcon Celebration and honor the significance of his life and contributions to our town.

With the participation of our students, teachers, local officials, and community, the celebration served as an opportunity to remember our history and help the younger generation understand the legacy left by those who came before us.

May we continue to remember, learn from, and carry this legacy forward.

PUBLIC ADVISORY
Effective July 20, 2026, the Municipality of Pototan will implement a new office work schedule pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 114, s. 2026 and Executive Order No. 83, s. 2026.

Office hours will be Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with Work From Home every Friday. This arrangement shall remain in effect until the memorandum is lifted.

Essential offices, including the MHO, MDRRMO, MENRO, Public Market, and Traffic Enforcement Unit, will continue their regular operations to ensure uninterrupted public service.

The public is advised to take note of the updated schedule when planning transactions with the LGU. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Municipal Tourism Officer, Ms. Riza M. Holland, together with the staff, recently visited the Lamis Grape Farm in Barangay Pitogo, Pototan, Iloilo to explore one of the municipality's emerging agri-tourism destinations.

The visit included grape picking and an opportunity to meet and engage with the Lamis family, whose dedication has transformed their farm into a unique attraction that showcases agricultural innovation and farm-based tourism. The exchange provided valuable insights into the farm's operations, its development, and its potential to contribute to Pototan's growing tourism industry.

As a municipality with strong agricultural roots, Pototan continues to promote destinations that highlight local farming communities while creating meaningful experiences for visitors. Initiatives such as the Lamis Grape Farm demonstrate how agriculture and tourism can work hand in hand to support local livelihoods and encourage sustainable rural tourism.

PROVINCIAL PRIDE MONTH CELEBRATION 2026
Afternoon Highlights 🌈

The afternoon program continued with the Pride March, where participants from different local government units, organizations, and communities came together in support of equality, inclusion, and respect for diversity.

The celebration concluded with a Talent Showcase, providing members of the LGBTQIA+ community an opportunity to share their talents and celebrate self-expression in an inclusive and supportive environment.

Through activities like these, we continue to promote awareness, strengthen community partnerships, and reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of every individual.
