The activity aimed to strengthen coordination and collaboration between the DENR and Local Government Units (LGUs) in the implementation of environment and natural resources (ENR) programs, projects, and activities. It also served as a venue to provide updates on relevant environmental laws, policies, rules, regulations, programs, and directives, while facilitating discussions on issues, concerns, and challenges encountered by LGUs in the implementation of ENR-related initiatives.

The activity further provided an opportunity for the DENR and C/MENROs to harmonize policies and strategies, strengthen information-sharing mechanisms, identify areas for collaboration and institutional support, and address emerging concerns in environmental management and natural resource protection.

The trainees presented their observations on identified pests and diseases, their characteristics, potential impacts on tree health, and recommended management measures.

The activity provided the trainees with an opportunity to share the knowledge and practical experiences they gained throughout their OJT while contributing valuable observations that may support the monitoring and management of trees within the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

The workshop aimed to identify and map various land uses within the Middle Agusan River Basin, including industries, agricultural areas, residential and commercial establishments, settlements, and other significant land use activities. The inventory and mapping outputs will provide essential spatial information on existing land use patterns within the basin.

The results of the workshop will support the research study entitled โ€œ๐„๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐•๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ฅ ๐’๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ฌ: ๐–๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, ๐’๐จ๐ข๐ฅ, ๐š๐ง๐ ๐€๐ข๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ๐ž ๐€๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐š๐ง ๐‘๐ข๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ ๐๐š๐ฌ๐ข๐ง (๐Œ๐€๐‘๐)โ€ by providing important information to guide the identification of appropriate stations for water and soil sampling. The data generated will also help assess the potential influence of surrounding land uses and human activities on the environmental quality of the river basin.

As part of the culmination activity, the trainees presented and shared the various activities they accomplished, as well as the experiences, knowledge, and skills they gained throughout their 240-hour training at PENRO-LGU. Their presentations highlighted the practical learning and exposure they received through their involvement in the office's programs, projects, and activities related to environmental and natural resource management.

The activity also featured the distribution of ๐‚๐ž๐ซ๐ญ๐ข๐Ÿ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ญ๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง to the trainees in recognition of their successful completion of the required OJT hours and their active participation and dedication throughout the training period.

PENRO-LGU Agusan del Sur likewise conveyed a message of encouragement to the trainees, reminding them that the knowledge, skills, experiences, and valuable lessons they gained during their time at the office will remain an important part of their journey. As they move forward, the trainees were encouraged to carry these learnings with them and apply them in their future academic and professional endeavors as aspiring forestry professionals and stewards of the environment.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-PENRO) and the PENRO โ€“ Local Government Unit (PENRO-LGU) reaffirmed their commitment to working hand in hand in protecting and preserving Agusan del Sur's environment during today's Department Information Officers (DIO) Hour, hosted by DIO-Designate Lyka Isobelle J. Fortun.

Representatives from both offices emphasized that while DENR-PENRO and PENRO-LGU perform distinct functions, their efforts complement one another in advancing sustainable environmental management. From forest protection and biodiversity conservation to land use planning and solid waste management, both agencies continue to collaborate with local government units and communities to ensure that development is balanced with environmental stewardship.

The discussion also highlighted that achieving a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Agusan del Sur requires collective action. Beyond government initiatives, every Agsurnon has a role to play in protecting natural resources and promoting responsible environmental practices, to ensure that future generations inherit a province where people and nature continue to thrive.
