September 24, 2026 | Consultative Meeting
Committee on Market and Other Business Establishments
As Chairperson of the Committee on Market and Other Business Establishments, I believe it is important to regularly communicate and consult with our market vendors regarding matters that directly affect their daily livelihood.
Today, we held a Consultative Meeting to relay and further discuss the matters tackled during our committee meeting on September 22, 2026, particularly our plans for the upcoming festive and Christmas season.
One of our main concerns is how we can properly organize the daily display of fruit stalls and other seasonal vendors during the Christmas season—ensuring that vendors will have a designated and uniform space while keeping the market area orderly and avoiding congestion, especially during busy market days.
Our vendors actively shared their thoughts, suggestions, and ideas on how we can improve the arrangement and make the system beneficial to everyone. We also discussed their follow-up regarding the market rehabilitation request raised last year, so I invited Mr. Edmar Sagun from the Engineering Office to provide an update on its progress.
Other concerns, including market cleanliness and other operational matters, were also discussed. These concerns will continue to be coordinated with our municipal offices and supported by our active Municipal Mayor, Hon. Edmar Pascua, as we work together toward a cleaner, more organized, and more business-friendly public market.
We also discussed the new set of officers of our market vendors, strengthening their organization and participation in addressing concerns affecting their livelihood.
Also present during the meeting were SB Member Hon. Maribel Laoat Sipsip and Ms. Gigite Wamil from the Municipal Treasury Office.
Thank you to all our vendors for openly sharing your concerns and suggestions. A better market is built through cooperation, consultation, and shared responsibility. Let us continue working together for a more organized, clean, and progressive public market for everyone.
