The Office of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, through the Forest Management Service Division (FMSD) staff, conducted a Tree Growth Care and Maintenance Training for different project staff from the Forest Management Service Division (FMSD), Protected Area Management Service Division (PAMSD), and the Balayong People's Park Management Office on October 22-23, 2026, at Conference Room 2, New Green City Hall, this City.

The two-day training covered essential topics on tree growth, proper planting techniques, and tree care and maintenance, including watering, fertilization, pruning, pest and disease management, tree protection, and soil and root rehabilitation. It also highlighted tree rehabilitation strategies for mature trees, tree surgery, and monitoring and record-keeping, complemented by hands-on practicum activities on tree surgery and pruning at the City Arboretum.

The training aimed to enhance participantsโ€™ knowledge and practical skills in promoting healthy tree growth, improving tree survival, and ensuring the proper care and maintenance of trees in urban areas. Through this initiative, the City ENRO continues to strengthen local capacity for urban greening and sustainable environmental management in Puerto Princesa City.

The City ENRO Puerto Princesa, through its Wildlife Management Services Division (WMSD) together with representatives from DENR-PENRO Palawan and DENR-CENRO Puerto Princesa, assessed the avian fauna species at Snake Island, Bgy. Manalo, on October 21-22, 2026.

This monitoring activity aims to enhance the continuous effort of managing the diverse biological composition of the island which serves as an important feeding and breeding grounds for many migratory bird species.

The Office of the City ENRO through its Wildlife Management Services Division, aims to continue its quarterly assessment, monitoring, and conservation efforts of the avian fauna community on the island, as well as other wildlife species.

โ€ŽThese chainsaws were confiscated by the ELED in various barangays within Puerto Princesa. The enforcement team continues its relentless efforts to apprehend violators of environmental lawsโ€”specifically PD 705 (Forestry Code) against illegal tree cutting, and RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002) against the unauthorized use of chainsaws without proper permits.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office, through its Forest Management Services Division (FMSD) and Wildlife Management Services Division (WMSD) staff, conducted an i-Tree Eco Assessment at Babuyan National High School, Babuyan Elementary School and Anilawan Elementary School on October 12-13, 2026 as a part of the Cityโ€™s Urban Forestry Program. A total of 330 trees were inventoried. The assessment aims to promote the presence of trees in urban areas, for air quality improvement, noise reduction, and temperature mitigation.

i-Tree was designed and developed by the USDA Forest Service in collaboration with its partners, aiming to provide both urban and rural forestry analysis, such as the local ecosystem services and benefits provided by the tree. The assessment involved tree inventory and measuring of key parameters, including diameter at breast height (dbh), total tree height, crown base height, canopy size, crown light exposure, and more.

โ€ŽThe City ENRO through the Environmental Law Enforcement Division (ELED) formally turned over One (1) confiscated chainsaw to the Palawan Council for Sustainable Development Staff (PCSDS) Center, Barangay Irawan, Puerto Princesa City.

โ€ŽThese chainsaws were confiscated by the ELED in various barangays within Puerto Princesa. The enforcement team continues its relentless efforts to apprehend violators of environmental lawsโ€”specifically PD 705 (Forestry Code) against illegal tree cutting, and RA 9175 (Chainsaw Act of 2002) against the unauthorized use of chainsaws without proper permits.

The Office of the City ENRO, through the Forest Management Services Division (FMSD), assisted the tree planting activity conducted by the Barangay Kamuning on October 3, 2026, at Brgy. Kamuning, this City.

This activity was led by Hon. Mary Charmaine N. Ringor, Punong Barangay of Brgy. Kamuning, demonstrates their commitment to environmental conservation and community participation through tree planting initiatives.
