As students๐Ÿ“š, we can honor our heroes by remembering their stories ๐Ÿ“œ and appreciating the freedom we have today๐Ÿ‘ฅ. We may not be able to do the same things they did, but even small acts of kindness, responsibility, and love for our country can make a difference. โญ๏ธ

๐Ÿ“… August 21 โ€ข Special Non-Working Holiday

Benigno "Ninoy" S. Aquino Jr. was a journalist, senator, and the fiercest opposition leader against the Marcos dictatorship. He was imprisoned for 7 years after Martial Law was declared in 1972, then exiled to the US. Despite repeated death threats, he returned to the Philippines on August 21, 1983 โ€” and was assassinated on the tarmac of Manila International Airport, moments after stepping off his plane.

His murder sparked nationwide outrage, united the opposition, and paved the way for the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution that restored democracy to our nation.

"The only advice I can give you: Live with honor and follow your conscience." โ€” Ninoy Aquino

Today, we remember that freedom is never free. It was paid for by those brave enough to stand up against tyranny. Ninoyโ€™s legacy reminds us that democracy must always be defended โ€” cherished, protected, and passed on to the next generation ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ
