On October 5, 2026, the CHR-NCR, led by Regional Director Atty. Khristian Jeff C. Episcope, met with representatives of Barangay 177 to provide guidance on a humane and legally compliant demolition process in relation to the demolition notice issued by the Caloocan City Engineering Office.

The discussion highlighted the right to adequate housing and the importance of ensuring that any demolition process upholds human dignity, due process, and the rights and welfare of affected families.

Protecting human rights means ensuring that people are treated with dignity and that their rights remain protected, especially when facing possible displacement.

As Ms. Veloso begins this new chapter, the CHR hopes that her case will strengthen the government’s resolve to protect Filipinos overseas, particularly those in vulnerable circumstances, and to continue pursuing measures that uphold the right to life, access to justice, rehabilitation, and human dignity.

EMPOWERING VOICES, DEFENDING RIGHTS!

The Commission on Human Rights – National Capital Region (CHR-NCR) joined the Human Rights Seminar hosted by the Supreme Student Council of the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, Las Piñas City (UPHSD-LP) on September 25, 2026.

As a partner of the Center for Human Rights Education (CHRE), UPHSD-LP continues to help promote human rights education and empower young people to become informed and active advocates for human rights.

Mr. Vincent Leo Gamboa, Chief of the CHR-NCR Promotion and Advocacy Division (PAD), represented the Commission and delivered a session on Human Rights 101, highlighting fundamental human rights principles, equality, and the important role of the youth in promoting and defending human rights.

The Commission on Human Rights–National Capital Region (CHR-NCR) joined the PNP-CHR-LGU-CSOs Human Rights Stakeholders’ Forum, bringing together partners and stakeholders to strengthen shared understanding and cooperation in promoting and protecting human rights.

Mr. Vincent Leo Gamboa, Chief of the CHR-NCR Promotion and Advocacy Division, led a session on Human Rights and BHRAC, while Atty. Catherine Jane Garingan delivered the message of the CHR-NCR Regional Director.

A meaningful space for learning, dialogue, and collaboration—because advancing human rights is a shared responsibility.

Ang ating mga nakatatanda ay karapat-dapat sa respeto, dignidad, seguridad, at pantay na oportunidad—malaya sa diskriminasyon, kapabayaan, at pang-aabuso.

Hindi lamang sila dapat alagaan. Dapat silang pakinggan, pahalagahan, isama, at igalang.

Igalang ang kanilang kuwento. Protektahan ang kanilang mga karapatan. Pahalagahan ang kanilang buhay.
