The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) MIMAROPA and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) MIMAROPA formalized their partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement to strengthen collaboration toward an IP-responsive Population and Development agenda in the region. The initiative supports the vision of making MIMAROPA a hub for inclusive and culturally grounded development for Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples.

This partnership reinforces a shared commitment to promote culturally responsive, rights-based, and data-informed programs that uphold Indigenous Peoples’ dignity, identity, and self-determination, ensuring inclusive and sustainable development across the region.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐜𝐨 𝐈𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐗𝐈𝐈 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐒

NCIP Secretary Nancy A. Catamco officially took her oath before President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, as the Cabinet Officer for Regional Development and Security (CORDS) for Region XII.

In this capacity, Secretary Catamco will serve as the strategic liaison between the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and the Joint Regional Task Force (JRTF) in the SOCCSKSARGEN region.

Beyond her regional appointment, Secretary Catamco was designated as the Co-Cluster Head of the Sectoral Unification, Capacity Building, Empowerment, and Mobilization (SUCBEM) Cluster. This appointment, made during the 9th Executive Committee (ExeCom) Meeting, places her alongside other top Cabinet officials in steering the task force's core initiatives.

As the primary government agency mandated to protect and promote the rights and well-being of Indigenous Cultural Communities and Indigenous Peoples, the NCIP brings to the task force its expertise in community engagement, ancestral domain governance, and the delivery of services to some of the country's most geographically isolated and underserved communities — many of which reside within areas covered by the NTF-ELCAC's mandate.

Lubos na nagpapasalamat ang National Commission on Indigenous Peoples sa natatanging paglilingkod ni Dr. Marie Grace T. Pascua bilang Chairperson ng ahensya, na nag-iwan ng matibay na pamana ng integridad, dedikasyon, at malasakit sa mga Katutubong Pamayanan.

Ang kaniyang mga inisyatiba para sa kultura, edukasyon, at kabuhayan ay habang-buhay na tatatak sa puso at isip ng mga komunidad na kaniyang pinaglingkuran.

Patuloy niyang isusulong ang kapakanan at karapatan ng mga Katutubong Pilipino sa kaniyang kapasidad bilang Komisyoner ng Cordillera Administrative Region at Region I.
