𝗟𝗢𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | NYC launches Sakto Skills Serye National Rollout, LYPC joins

‎MANILA, Philippines — The National Youth Commission (NYC), in partnership with various development organizations and youth-serving institutions, officially launched the nationwide rollout of the Sakto Skills Serye (SSS), a learning initiative aimed at equipping Filipino youth with practical life and employment skills.
‎
‎The national rollout was formally launched through simultaneous hybrid activities conducted across different regions of the country, bringing together youth leaders, local government units, Sangguniang Kabataan officials, and partner organizations.
‎
‎Among the participating youth organizations was the Libmanan Youth Press Club (LYPC), which joined the nationwide launch as part of its continuing engagement in youth development and capacity-building initiatives.
‎
‎According to the NYC, the Sakto Skills Serye consists of a series of short and flexible learning modules designed to help young people develop competencies often not emphasized in traditional classroom settings. Participants who complete the courses may earn digital badges and certifications.
‎
‎During the launch, NYC officials highlighted the program's goal of expanding access to skills development opportunities, particularly for marginalized, out-of-school, and underserved youth sectors.
‎
‎The initiative features eight learning tracks covering various areas of personal and professional development. These include Saktong Learner, Saktong Professional, Saktong Communicator, Saktong Critical Thinker, Saktong Leader, Saktong Resilient, Saktong Sustainable, and Saktong Prepared.
‎
‎The learning tracks focus on topics such as communication, leadership, workplace readiness, critical thinking, environmental awareness, disaster preparedness, resilience, and lifelong learning.
‎
‎As part of the rollout, the courses were integrated into partner digital platforms and youth development programs, including local Learning-to-Earning Pathways (LEaP) initiatives and other community-based youth training efforts.
‎
‎Local youth organizations and partner institutions also began organizing orientation activities and workshops to encourage participation and familiarize young people with the available learning opportunities.
‎
‎The Sakto Skills Serye forms part of the NYC's continuing efforts to strengthen youth development programs and expand access to skills training amid evolving social, economic, and technological demands.
‎
‎The commission expects the program to reach thousands of young Filipinos across the country during its initial implementation phase.

The National Youth Commission (NYC) invites and enjoins Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials and Local Youth Development Officers (LYDOs) to participate in the Seminar on Fiscal and Financial Administration for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and Barangay Officials spearheaded by the Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants P h A L G A , Inc.

The activity will happen on June 10-12, 2026, at the New Provincial Gymnasium of Camiguin, Mambajao, Camiguin.

The Learning to Earning Pathways (LEaP!) Programme is a youth development initiative that seeks to empower young people to build fulfilling, productive, and sustainable futures through accessible learning and skills development opportunities. It is implemented by the Ateneo Learning and Teaching Excellence Center (ALTEC) of Ateneo de Zamboanga University (AdZU), the UNICEF Philippines, the National Youth Commission, and other partner agencies and organizations working together to strengthen youth employability, resilience, and lifelong learning.
