DENR Legislative Liaison Office

Initial presentation of Legislative Information System (LIS) on May 30, 2022, presided by Mr. Nasser Lawrence Lumihog of Knowledge and Information Systems Service with DENR LLO Head, Director Romirose Padin, and LLO staff.

The Legislative Liaison Office (LLO) conducted a meeting with the concerned local officials and stakeholders of Boracay Island, Malay, Aklan.

Director Romirose B. Padin spearheaded the meeting with for the purpose of gathering the positions of the locals on DENR’s priority measure over Boracay Island. The objective was to determine the pulse of the locals on the possibility of creating an authority in the Island.

General Manager Martin Jose V. Despi of the Boracay Inter-Agency Rehabilitation and Management Group (BIARMG) also participated and clarified the intricacies behind the proposed legislative measure. Updates also on the environmental rehabilitation and development were tackled by General Manager Despi.

The event was successfully concluded as each of the local officials and stakeholders aired out their stands and concerns regarding the creation of an authority. The material information collected was necessary in preparing the Department’s prospective legislative agenda.

Keeping in mind the importance of trees for a sustainable community, the LLO team also partook in a tree-planting activity situated in Wetland No. 6, Brgy. Manoc-Manoc, Malay, Aklan.

The DENR Assessment of the Remaining Boracay Rehabilitation Activities took place on March 7-9, 2022.

Presided by Undersecretary Ernesto D. Adobo Jr, the meeting tackled key concerns which sought to be resolved before the Boracay Inter-agency Tasked Force’s (BIATF) extended term expires on June 2022.
