It aims to improve the delivery of public services, promote community welfare and protect people’s rights. Checkmyschool is a participatory monitoring initiative for the education sector in the Philippines that helps promote quality education by bringing in the participation of citizens and communities into the governance of public schools in the country. Starting as a joint project between the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in East Asia and the Pacific (ANSA-EAP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2011. In its current form, the Checkmyschool process has evolved into a three-step process: facilitating (a) access to information through data updating in schools, (b) feedback to the authorities and stakeholders, and (c) resolution of issues faced by the schools. Checkmyschool aims at the continuous improvement of education services in schools through constructive engagement between the stakeholders and government by establishing formal and official mechanisms for addressing key issues in the education sector, one school at a time.
