This session will highlight the unique health needs of women in detention and the urgent importance of gender-responsive, rights-based approaches to care.

Congratulations to our very own BJMP Epidemiologist, JO3 Karla May Manahan, for being recognized as Session Best Presenter for her oral presentation entitled “Scabies Prevalence Survey in BJMP-NCR Jails” during the 11th International Public Health Conference held in Bangkok, Thailand on August 7–9, 2025.

This outstanding achievement highlights not only her dedication to public health research but also BJMP’s commitment to evidence-based initiatives in improving the health and welfare of persons deprived of liberty.

The BJMP Directorate for Health Service presented the results of the Scabies Prevalence Survey in BJMP jails—a study supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross Philippines—and the study on the Mental Health of PDL with Childhood Trauma during the 11th International Conference on Public Health (ICOPH) held in Bangkok, Thailand from 7 to 9 August. This demonstrated BJMP’s strong commitment to raising awareness and pursuing broader initiatives to improve the health and welfare of PDL in the country. The conference brought together over 450 participants from 54 countries, including representatives from international organizations, ministries of health, healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and other stakeholders.

We have successfully concluded our Bloodletting Activity in collaboration with the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). A huge THANK YOU to all the heroic blood donors from the PNP, BFP, Philippine Air Force, PPSA, NJMPTI, and BJMP-NHQ who participated in this noble cause.Your blood can save lives, especially the lives of children in need.Your compassion and willingness to give will have a lasting impact.
