The University of the Philippines has officially opened Buwan ng Unibersidad, June 2. This monthlong celebration of its founding anniversary is an extension of what used to be a weeklong series of activities. UP distributed the program of festivities throughout the month to accommodate a broader range of UP System-level initiatives planned for this period

UP President Angelo Jimenez said the university’s anniversary used to be celebrated simply and would pass without much reflection and thought, which is why his administration spearheaded the Linggo ng Unibersidad at the beginning of his presidency, but he admitted that a week was not enough.

With the theme, Ani at Alay: Tumutugon. Naglilingkod. Para sa Bayan, Buwan ng Unibersidad opened with a program that began with a flag-raising ceremony at Quezon Hall, UP Diliman.

UP marks its 118th year, June 18.

The activity line-up can be viewed at https://up.edu.ph/events/.
