Situated along Asia’s Typhoon Belt and the Pacific Ring of Fire, the Philippines is frequented by typhoons, massive flooding, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. To boost disaster preparedness and response, the PIA put up this Weather Watch page on Facebook as a platform for early warning and response during natural disasters. Using situation reports from PIA’s information officers nationwide and reports sourced from media outlets, Weather Watch provides timely and accurate information that enable disaster response agencies to quickly respond to disaster situations. Weather Watch was recognized by various organizations here and abroad, including the United Nations, as a comprehensive reference on Philippine weather updates, early warning information, flooding situation, road conditions, and even school and work suspensions related to bad weather. Weather Watch has received over 17 million hits as of November 2011 and has saved lives and properties, such as in landslide-hit St.

On Friday afternoon, ROSAL will begin to turn north northwestward to northward until it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Friday evening or Saturday (24 October) early morning.
• ROSAL is forecast to maintain its strength as Super Typhoon and further intensification remains possible while it moves over the Philippine Sea. It is forecast to weaken into a Typhoon on Thursday and may further weaken into a Severe Tropical Storm on Saturday evening or Sunday (25 October) morning while outside PAR due to unfavorable environment.

Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property.
