Ateneo Office of the Ombudsman

On this day in 2016, the undergraduate students of the Ateneo voted into effect the 2016 Constitution of the Undergraduate Students of the Ateneo De Manila Loyola Schools.

Amongst the several massive changes to the structure and system of the Sanggunian, the Office of the Ombudsman was introduced alongside the Commission on Audit.

While the Office can find its roots in the Office of the Chief Prosecutor in the Student Judicial Court, the independent Office of the Ombudsman came into effect in School Year 2017-2018.

The Sanggunian Arms Appointment Committee (SAppComm) officially opens the application process for aspiring Magistrates, Ombudsman, Prosecutors, Commissioner on Audit, Auditors and Commissioners of Elections for Term 2026–2027.

The application period will close on 22 April 2026 at 11:59 PM.

[R-2526-2-03: Creation of the Sanggunian Arms Appointment Committee]

Through a resolution promulgated today, 14 April 2026, the Court en banc establishes the ad hoc Sanggunian Arms Appointment Committee (SAppCom), which shall oversee the appointment of the next officers of the Sanggunian Arms for Term 2026–2027.

Consequently, the Committee—composed of outgoing magistrates—also promulgates the 2026 Rules of the SAppCom, annexed to the same resolution.

The public is hereby informed of the timeline for the appointment period. For further details, all are enjoined to review the Rules and await subsequent announcements.

The SAppCom warmly encourages applications from those who are willing to answer the call to service.
