๐—Ÿ๐—ข๐—ข๐—ž: The Department of Agriculture-High Value Crops Development Program (DA-HVCDP) and its partners gathered for the opening of the week-long World Food Day (WFD) 2026 celebration at the DA Central Office in Quezon City.

Observed every October 16, World Food Day commemorates the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in 1945. It raises awareness of hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition, while encouraging stronger collaboration to build food systems that provide safe, affordable, and nutritious food for all.

This yearโ€™s theme, โ€œInnovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow,โ€ highlights the importance of combining innovative solutions with traditional knowledge and inclusive approaches. Together, these can help make food more affordable and accessible, improve public health and nutrition, and support the sustainable use of resources.

In her message, DA Undersecretary for High Value Crops Usec. Cheryl Marie Natividad-Caballero emphasized the transformative role of agricultural innovation in strengthening food security, promoting sustainable food systems, and empowering farmers and fisherfolks.

The activity also featured innovative products developed by local farmers, showcasing the creativity and resourcefulness driving the Philippine agriculture sector and highlighting how homegrown solutions can help strengthen food security, support rural livelihoods, and bring locally produced goods closer to consumers.
