PSRTI CONTINUES RSC TRAINING RUN WITH AI-ENABLED DATA ANALYTICS COURSE FOR MIMAROPA
The PSRTI conducted the second 2026 run of its Complimentary Training on Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools for 35 representatives of Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) member-agencies in MIMAROPA on April 21–23, 2026, at the PSRTI Conference Room. The three-day training was facilitated by Resource Persons Mr. Ken Zedric G. Ganan and Mr. Eduard C. Gatus of the PSRTI Training Division.
Conducted in coordination with the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) MIMAROPA and the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) MIMAROPA, the training equipped RSC members with practical skills in descriptive analytics, data visualization, and AI-assisted reporting to support evidence-based regional planning and decision-making. The activity forms part of PSRTI’s continuing initiative to strengthen the capacities of RSCs across the Philippines, which has been implemented since 2023.
The program opened with welcoming remarks from Ms. Haidee Fay M. Ignacio, Senior Statistical Specialist of the Training Division, followed by an opening message from PSA MIMAROPA Regional Director and RSC MIMAROPA Vice-Chairperson Leni R. Rioflorido. The training concluded with a closing message from DEPDev MIMAROPA Regional Director and RSC MIMAROPA Chairperson Agustin C. Mendoza, PhD.

GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL ENHANCE DATA STORYTELLING SKILLS THROUGH FREE PSRTI INFOGRAPHICS COURSE
Seventy-three (73) participants from various government agencies completed the Hybrid Regular Training Course (RTC) on Visualize to Captivate: Data Representation through Infographics conducted by the PSRTI on April 27–30, 2026, at the PSRTI Gervacio G. Selda Jr. Room. Of the total participants, 24 attended on-site while 49 joined online, reflecting continued interest in PSRTI’s hybrid training offerings.
The course also marked PSRTI’s eighth free RTC offered to government personnel this year, reflecting the Institute’s continued commitment to expanding access to statistical capacity-building opportunities in the public sector.
Facilitated by resource persons Ms. Kristina Norma B. Cobrador and Mr. Primitivo Warren B. Garcera, the four-day course equipped participants with knowledge and skills in presenting statistics quickly, clearly, and effectively through visual graphics. The training also introduced best practices in data visualization, data storytelling, and infographic design, helping participants plan and create visuals that communicate meaningful insights to various audiences.
PSRTI Executive Director III Josefina V. Almeda, PhD delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of effective data communication in strengthening evidence-based work. The program concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Peña, Chief Statistical Specialist of the PSRTI Training Division.

PSRTI OPENS 2026 RSC TRAINING RUN WITH AI-ENABLED DATA ANALYTICS COURSE IN REGION V
The PSRTI conducted the first 2026 run of its Complimentary Training on Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools for 30 representatives of Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) member-agencies in Region V on March 24–26, 2026, at the Philippine Statistics Authority - Regional Statistical Services Office V (PSA RSSO V) Conference Room in Legazpi City. The training was facilitated by Resource Persons Mr. Ken Zedric Ganan and Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio of the PSRTI Training Division.
Composed of National Government Agencies (NGAs) in the region, RSC members were equipped with practical skills in organizing and summarizing datasets, computing and interpreting descriptive measures, preparing clear tables and appropriate charts, and developing short narrative interpretations to support evidence-based regional planning and decision-making. With the integration of AI-enabled tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini, the course also introduced participants to responsible and effective AI use in statistical work, including dataset summarization, drafting of insights, improving chart selection, and AI-assisted reporting. The complimentary training forms part of PSRTI’s continuing initiative to strengthen the capacities of RSCs across the Philippines, which has been conducted since 2023.

AI INTEGRATION HIGHLIGHTS PSRTI'S FIRST SDG SEMINAR 7 FOR 2026
Sixty-seven online participants from various Provincial and Local Government Units (LGUs) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) offices in Region II and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) joined the first conduct this year of the Virtual Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Seminar 7: Descriptive Analytics and Visualization with AI-Enabled Tools, held on April 14–16, 2026.
Facilitated by resource persons Ms. Haidee Fay Ignacio and Ms. Carmela Vito, the three-day seminar aimed to strengthen the capacity of LGU personnel in using descriptive analytics, data visualization techniques, and AI-enabled tools to support data-driven planning, reporting, and decision-making. The integration of AI in the complimentary course also reflects PSRTI’s commitment to keeping abreast with emerging technologies, particularly in helping participants use tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini to support table interpretation, summary statistics, data visualization, and AI-assisted reporting.
PSRTI Training Division Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Maria Praxedes R. Peña delivered both the opening and closing remarks, emphasizing the importance of building local capacities in statistical analysis and visualization. The seminar forms part of PSRTI’s continuing SDG Seminar Series, which began with SDG Seminar 1 in 2018 and has since provided targeted capacity-building support for LGUs and partner institutions.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAM EQUIPS REGION VI LGUS WITH EXCEL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SKILLS
In coordination with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the PSRTI successfully conducted the Capacity Building Program for Local Government Units (LGUs) in Region VI from April 20 to 23, 2026, at Citadines Amigo Iloilo in Iloilo City. As part of the nationwide rollout of the program across all 18 regions, the Region VI leg consisted of the Training Course on Mastering Database Management Using MS Excel and the LGU Technical Assistance session, attended by 22 participants from various LGUs in the region.
During the Opening Ceremonies, Ms. Jazel Ann R***r, Supervising Statistical Specialist of the PSRTI Training Division, delivered the opening remarks and emphasized the importance of strengthening LGUs’ technical capabilities in data management and analysis to support evidence-based governance.
The three-day training course, conducted from April 20-22, 2026, was facilitated by Mr. Primitivo Warren B. Garcera. Participants were introduced to key Microsoft Excel functionalities essential for database management and dashboard preparation, including data organization, formulas and functions, pivot tables, charts, and dashboard creation. The course provided hands-on exercises designed to improve participants’ efficiency in handling and presenting data for reporting and decision-making purposes.
Following the training course, the LGU Technical Assistance session was conducted on April 23, 2026, with Mr. Garcera continuing as Resource Person. The activity allowed participants to seek further guidance and clarify technical concerns related to the applications discussed during the training.

GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES MAXIMIZE FREE LEARNING OPPORTUNITY THROUGH PSRTI EXCEL TRAINING
A total of 114 participants, composed of 38 onsite and 76 online attendees from various government agencies and institutions, joined the Hybrid Regular Training Course (RTC) on Microsoft Excel for Database Management conducted by the PSRTI from April 13 to 16, 2026, at the PSRTI OED Conference Room. The four-day training aimed to enhance participants’ competencies in organizing, analyzing, and presenting data efficiently using Microsoft Excel. Through a combination of lectures and hands-on exercises, participants were introduced to practical tools and techniques essential for database management and dashboard preparation.
The course was facilitated by Resource Persons Ms. Czarinne Antoinette Antonio and Mr. Martin Augustine Borlongan, who discussed key Excel functionalities such as advanced filtering, pivot tables, chart creation, and dashboard development. Participants also learned about useful Excel add-ins and features that support data analysis and reporting. Interactive workshops allowed participants to apply the concepts to real-world data management scenarios, helping them strengthen their technical and analytical skills for workplace applications.
