To further the goals of the 12th National Social Science Congress, we are holding a pre-conference public lecture entitled, "Understanding Poverty: Theories and Key Concepts" by Dr. JC Punongbayan.

The NSSC12 pre-conference public lecture series is a lead-up to NSSC12, which will provide an avenue to initiate public and scholarly discussions on the multidimensional nature of poverty, bring social science perspectives and research to a wider audience, and build momentum toward the Congress.

This upcoming session introduces major concepts, theories, and frameworks for understanding poverty as a multidimensional social condition. It will be held via Zoom and at the UP School of Economics on 12 October 2026 (Monday) at 2:00 to 4:00 PM.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to our resource persons, host, and all our participants for the successful conduct of our inaugural onsite Regional Training Workshop on Publishing and Ethical Use of AI in Social Science Research.

We are grateful for the opportunity to promote publishing and AI in the Philippine social sciences with the help of our member-organization, the CASS MSU-IIT. We are also very delighted to meet, engage with, and serve the social science community in Mindanao.
